Default Transmission for sale

Gentleman,
I actually own a 1987 Grand national that I was looking to purchase a 200 transmission for. I actually ended up purchasing one for it however did not do my proper research and recently found out that the transmission is actually for a 85-88 Monte Carlo SS, So needless to say that I am trying to unload it. I live in Newport Richey Florida and will not ship. It has a converter installed and the only thing that I have done to it is to remove the converter and drain it for weight. Once again it was not used by me but however it was installed I believe by the individual that I purchased it from, but I was told that he could not get it set up correctly, so at that point in I step and purchase a 200 that is specific to the Monte. I have all of the paperwork to specify the internals and was informed that his mechanic stated that it was a good build. However due to my ignorance, my loss will be someone's gain--I am looking to get 500 for it. I would like pickup only. I have pictures. I can provide to anyone interested.

Thank you .

Maybe youd have better luck on one of the GM V8 websites. The majority of the people here have 5,6,7th gen Montes. -Our little FWD cars...

Im with whtmonte on this. We certainly welcome all generations here, but the population majority has always tended to be 5th+ / FWD. Most of the other big MC boards are the exact opposite / some fairly hostile to any kind of FWD - hence why so many gather here. Id really be surprised if we even had a dozen active 1-4G members at this point.

Add to that its limited to a few years of one generation, would only be for someone actively looking for a transmission, and not shipping and you end up with a pretty unlikely odds on a bite. Id suggest posting on your local FB marketplace / Craigslist / some of the more RWD biased MC boards for better luck.

Appreciate it fellas....hence the reason that I posted here, as I am not sure what generation of a Monte the 85-88 style is. So this forum doesn't cover the 85-88 platforms? Thank you, I will redirect my efforts.

85-88 is the latter part of the 4th generation/ last of the rear wheel drive Montes.

We do welcome every generation, but our members tend to be heavily biased to the 95+ generations. We only have a handful of active members in the 88 and older population.

Certainly doesn't hurt to post here in case you get lucky and one of them needs a transmission / lives nearby, Im just saying you'll want to cast a wider net to improve your odds.
