Replace wiper arm.
 

So it snowed like crazy in kansas and I went out to clear some snow off my car. I got most of the snow off the wind shield and I turned the wiper blades on and the passenger one didnt work. So I figured out it was frozen and how I guess its stripped because the knob that it sits on in the middle turns but the arm doesnt move. So can anyone point me to a how to remove this so I can replace it?

Remove the cowl screen, then the arms I want to say just pop off, get a screwdriver to help you. It's been a few years since I replaced my arms and I don't remember the entire process, but it's pretty straight forward to figure out.

Cycle the motors a few times once the arms are off and install the new arms seated in the cradles.

Remove the black plastic nut cap at the base of the wiper arm, remove the nut then curl your fingers under the base of the arm and pry upwards with your fingers until the arm seperates from the splined shaft. Remember to unplug the washer nozzle hose. If the splines are stripped in the arm itself (most likely) replace the arm. If the splines are stripped on the shaft then you'll need to remove the cowl cover (as Mike mentioned) to access the linkage underneath and replace the shaft.

Thanks Mike for pointing that part out - you don't need to remove the cowl, I did because I was originally inspecting for a busted linkage as my left wiper would stop half way up the windshield and the right one would lift half an inch and then slam back down with a bang.

The arms can just be popped off. I'm trying to do the instructions from memory, and it doesn't work so well anymore.

Great info but you don't need to replace or remove the arm at least Canadian members will know this can happen in the cold remove the cap to the know at the arm elbow then remove the bolt under clean up the threads then re tighten the bolt should start working again perfectly, a lot of people think this is a worse problem then it is most the time
