Painting My Calipers??
How do i go about painting my calipers? Im not a big painter lol i want them lime green and was wondering if i have to sand them down first? What kinda sandpaper? Do i primer them first? And would enamel engine paint work?
You will want to grind down the brakes to make them clean, I got a wire brush drill attachment and cleaned them with that. Also, you may want to look into this kit:
G2 Brake Caliper Paint Systems
It's an epoxy based kit, so it will last longer and look better for longer.
I'm not sure if they'll have that color green, but they may be able to make it for you or you may be able to find something close.
The problem with just painting the calipers is, they do get very hot and they have a tendency to crack and chip.

I agree what ever method you choose to clean the calipers, when it's all said and done they need to be 100% grease free. I cleaned mine with brake cleaners, brushes, and more brake cleaners and still had a few spots where the paint released. Went over the calipers again, left the old paint on, but cleaned them with brake cleaner again, repainted the whole caliper and now they are holding up perfectly well. So perhaps expect a touch up session.
Here is some high temp paint by Dupli-color and there is a "Grabber Green" DE1641high temp engine paint. Guess they use it on snow modiles and motorcycles like Kawasaki's and such.
Dupli-Color :: Engine Paint with Ceramic
Good luck .......

Prep work is the key. If they are really rusty you may want to use a rust converter. Make sure you get them clean after. If you do primer them first make sure you use a high temp primer. If the green you used is engine paint i think it would work fine. Also aluminum foil is good for masking off the parts for paint.
good luck and post some pics when your done.
I have used the G2 kit successfully and I love it.
If it chips at all, just take a picture, include your PDF of an invoice and they will just mail you a brand new kit no questions asked.

The kit is around $39 with out shipping on tire rack.
I just re-did mine the other day and left them on the car. Sanded them really good and used degreaser and brake cleaner, etc. I just masked it off and sprayed them with the duplicolor high-temp engine enamel that Zippy suggested.
Good luck! Lime green is sweet!
