Painted interior?
I recently found a picture of a really clean 6th gen MC that has a general color scheme that I'm looking for, and this picture of the interior gives a good idea of what I'm looking to do:
http://www.motortopia.com/files/1003.../MY_CAR012.jpg My biggest question is how much labor and what materials (in terms of paint/sanding/etc.) am I looking at to tackle a job like this? I'm almost looking to replicate the exact look in this picture (including the painted plastic around the shifter and center console which is kind of hard to see). |
looks very nice, i remember seeing a thread of someone painting interior on here, silver in color!!

wow that looks awesome! lol (((possibly a new mod idea, hmmmm)))

Luke's car is great.
And it's not expensive to do. You just buy a good vinyl cleaner, adhesion promotor, and the proper paint and go to town. |
check out eastwood.com, they have pretty much everything you could ever need to do that with your interior. decent prices, too. like mike said, MAKE SURE to get a good vinal cleaner & adheasion promotor, & it would not hurt to scuff with some light grit sandpaper.

Its plastic so you might not want to scuff it too much, its very easy to loose the texture.

Thanks for that link skylark, and all the contribution from everyone else.

I assume the paneling on the MC isn't terribly tricky to pull apart (or at least the pieces painted in that picture)? |
I actually talked to Luke about his interior.
He took his door panel off, taped it off (for the large red section) and painted it that way. The door handles come right out with a screw, the piece around the shifter pops right out, kind of a pain to snap back in though, and the Fuse box cover is just a cover and pops off. |
Sweet, sounds like a pretty smooth process. Thanks for the info :)
