Need Help..Huge door gap

I had to take my driver door off today because I pushed it a little too far and it wouldn't shut all the way,i got that problem fixed by hitting the body of the car where the hinge bolts to because it bowed that metal out,i got everything back together now I have a huge gap at the top of my door,it starts in the middle and goes all the way to the corner, the door shuts OK now but the gap is about 3 inches from the body the the door trim

is this just an alignment issue I can fix or is the frame of the door bent? the window isn't out of place and is rolled all the way up so I really don't see how it could be bent

That happened to me a while back, after many failed attempts to correct it I came up with the idea of using a shim on the lower hindge and oddly enough it worked. It lined up perfectly after the third shim I first used a 14 gauge stainless steel shim that didn't help much then I tried 12 gauge that did help but the gap was still there.... Few days later I made a 10 gauge shim and it worked damn near perfect.

actually I thought about that, how big was your gap? mine starts right past the mirror and goes all the way up to the corner then back down close to the door handle, the gap between the roof and the door is about 3 inches,i can slide my whole arm down there

I might try the shims, its just crazy how it fit perfect then you mess with it a little and throws it completely out of whack
