Default How do I get these scratches out?

I have a few minor scratches in my car. They are not down to the paint as far as I can tell. They just look like the clear is scratched, or even smudged may be a better word. *Will try to get pics* When I first got my car I clay bar'd and waxed the whole thing hoping these would fade - it helped a little. I also used Scratch X 2.0 and I didn't see any difference.

Is there something else I should be trying or am I stick with these little scratches? Most of them were on the car when I bought it, but I think I made my own when I was getting my back bowtie off for paint *doh!*

Much thanks!

Does you fingernail grab any of the scratches.. if it does they probably wont be able to be removed. But they can be helped. In most cases you will need a machine to remove the majority of scratches(its at least 95% easier)

Most of the scratches are smooth to the touch. Nothing is like a gouge or deep scratch into the paint.

Try some rubbing compound by hand, if it doesnt take the scratches out you may need to wetsand and buff them out.

So you're just looking to get the fine scratches and swirl marks out?

I had a couple of scratches that the clay bar didn't remove and took them out wth Meguiars Clear Coat Safe Rubbing Compound. After using the rubbing compound I polished then waxed. You can't even tell where the scratches were.

I had some scratches on my hood that wouldnt come out and I used a scratch remover like meguiers. I had to do repeated applications but every time it got less noticeable.

Thank you! I have never used rubbing compound, but I think I will give this a try.
