Fix Ruined Grille Trim

Hello,

Literally just got a 99 Monte Carlo two days ago and I need to know how to remove the little chevy emblem that sits in the grille so that I can remove the hideously cracked trim thing that the LS has in order to have it just be the bumper and the emblem like the Z34.

I'd also like recommendations on what to use to remove the adhesive thats under this trim, as I tried a bit of 2000 grit sandpaper under a piece of the trim but I went too far and will need some touch up paint now.

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

The Bowtie emblem has 2 studs on the underside of the emblem, they are rough threaded.
On the underside of the Bumper cover are 2 push nuts.
I am thinking they are 7/16 but could be wrong on that. You maybe able to loosen them with a nut driver or a 1/4 ratchet, and you might need to pull them off once they are loose. I think once I got that far I could pull the emblem up and twist the push nut off by hand. It's a pain.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully this weekend I'll have a chance to try to remove the emblem and grill trim. I'm hoping I don't have to remove the bumper in order to do so, but I guess I will if it comes to it.
