Default factory kits

I have a 00' LS and my factory kit is the black plastic one but I wanted to get it painted white. When I went to the body shop he told me that it would be too much of a hassle to paint the type of plastic it is. What I wanted to know is is there any where else that I can get the factory paintable kit from without ordering it from GM and paying the 1000+ they charge for the ss kit. I know razzi makes a decent kit but I want to keep the smooth look of the factory kit, any suggestions or contradictions on what the paint guy told me?

Hey man, i just painted mine... all i did was a few layers of primmer out of a can to cover all the lil f'n dimples on the plastic, sanded to 400 grit wet, and painted it along with the rest of my car, my rockers arent back on the car yet but ill take a shot of the rear bumper this week-end.. turned out pretty good

Drop those idiots of your contact list, not only do they not know what thier doing but they don't seem to need your bussiness. You can sand (dry) down your kit with med to fine, take advantage of this time to now fill scratches , chips and inperfections with a fill made for the plastic body moldings. Then hit it again with a sandable prime wet sand and your ready to lay your final. auto body shops worth anything will hit this with a primer and paint developed for the flexable plastics. If you plan on doing it yourself the auto paint supply will set you up with the same product. Too much of a hassle!!!! lazy bastards won't be in bussiness long....Jarhead
