black headlight housing?

i've been thinking about the black headlight housings for my 05 for awhile now. currently i have smoked headlight covers, but i've been pulled over twice now and luckily haven't gotten a ticket. but i don't want to risk it. but i love the look. i'm not sure how the black housing would look instead. if my car was black i know it would look good. but with it being red i'm not sure. and aren't there 2 different kinds? the kind with the clear sidemarker and the one with the amber colored side marker? idk it's a decision for me. your input would be nice! thanks! even pictures if anyone has a red 6th gen with black housings would be awesome!

I believe the clear sidemarker is not DOT approved, haven't seen them for sale anywhere much either.

The black/red combo I think would be sharp!

IMO looking head on at a car with the black headlights, the headlights almost look smoked, but that's me. When I get my tax refund a set of headlights is near the top of my to do list.

The clears were discontinued :(

So good luck finding those!!! But I do think it would look sweet on your car. Especially coupled with an SLP / TS Grille :)

I agree. Go for it. It's one of those, "you have to do it" mods for your gen Monte, IMO.

i think i will. but i love my covers so much! lol

Just came across this yesterday in the albums. Black headlight on a Red 6th gen LS. Still looks good, even with some yellow. I'm thinking about getting a pair for my black monte.

Nice find, I looked quickly and couldn't find it.

Sadly once again I'm going to have to side on ChiBi, that set-up does look sweet!

Why must you sadly agree with me?! :P

Just gotta yank your chain, you know I hate to admit when your right...
Honestly your one of the few people here that likes to "play" like I do... ;)

What is it anyway? Do your ears perk up when I type your name? Always right behind me, your starting to make me feel self-conscience!

Oh, back on topic... blackbeauty if you show your car hold on to them to put on at shows, if not... hold on to them for nostalgic reasons or the ocassional photo shoot. I put a set on my dad's GMC Safari minivan years ago, made it look pretty sharp IMO so I know where your coming from.

red04montels 02-24-2010 06:36 PM

i talked to the guy with that car a while ago, he said with those headlights and an hid kit he almost hit a pole because they dont project light well at all so he sold them, so i would stay away from them, i also saw someones plastic on them peeling right off

gothkid 02-24-2010 07:22 PM

I'm lookin into gettin a set of the black housings for my dale jr edition. I think the setup looks good.

RickAKATed10 03-01-2010 11:29 AM

They're fit perfectly on the Jr. edition.

vita 03-01-2010 05:31 PM

I always wanted to get some... I heard that they didnt project very well too though.

Enzo354 03-01-2010 06:20 PM

Tis a lie, they are the same as my old headlights, the bottom and top dont do much for reflecting :D

pizzarrhea 03-01-2010 07:22 PM

I have 'em on mine, they're great. They do project good too, like Enzo said they project as much as the regular ones.
