Default 2003 monte carlo ss hid headlights

I have an 03 ss monte, i feel my headlights are very dull, however the lenses are clean. I want to put in a nice set of 6000k HID headlights, does anyone recommend or not recommend doing so? Whats a good brand? Bad brand? THANKS!!

Sure. No harm in adding them, just make sure to get 35w, no need for 55w as you can melt your stock wiring. DDM Tuning is a good company that a lot of people here use, others have bought Xenon kits off eBay; some have had great luck with them, others have ballast issues.

I agree with Mike 00LS. I have had my ebay kit for a few years now with no problems.

I don't know how much DDM's are (been out of the game for a while) but my friend use to work for the company the sells th HID's off ebay...They may seem to be sold from different companies but they really only come from one or two...

It's basically a room with tons of ballasts and agents selling them...Some take the time to test them before sending them out, others do not. With that said, I paid for the 35 dollar ones off ebay and have had no real issues, except one slightly (very slight) flicker in one ballast, which was replace; customer service was top notch...

I figure, for 35, its cheap enough to buy an entire new kit if needed...

Just my .1.

I literally just got the cheap ebay kit lastnight. Its the 35W 9005 bulbs for my high beams only. Low beam bulbs is 9006. Heres a chart off another post.

High Beam Headlamp Light Bulb Size: 9005

Parking Light Bulb Size: 3457ALL
Front Turn Signal Light Bulb Size: 3457ALL
Fog/Driving Light Bulb Size: 880

Rear Turn Signal Light Bulb Size: 3057
Tail Light Bulb Size: 3057
Stop Light Bulb Size: 3057
High Mount Stop Light Bulb Size: Assembly

License Plate Light Bulb Size: 194
Back Up Light Bulb Size: 921

Front Side Marker Light Bulb Size: 194
Rear Sidemarker Light Bulb Size: 194

INTERIOR
Ash Tray Light Bulb Size: 194
Glove Box Light Bulb Size: 194
Map Light Bulb Size: 194
Dome Light Bulb Size: 578
Step/Courtesy Light Bulb Size: 194
Trunk/Cargo Area Light Bulb Size: 912

This is for a 2000 but your 03 is the same. I also purchased foot well lights(blue) and license plate lights(blue 194). I bought this same kit off ebay a year ago for my 2001 Honda TRX400ex and they were BEAAAAAST. I however did have a problem with one ballast that burnt out. This new kit im buying comes with a 2 year warranty so no complaints. However, DDM offers a lifetime warrenty. Go with DDM. Much better buy for just a couple dollars more.

I got my HID kit on eBay 2 years ago and they work great they are from xentec I put a set in my low beams and my fog lights, did have 1 ballast go bad but they replaced it with a new one with no hassle at all and the kits fit perfect and have plenty of wire to hook everything up, highly recommend them if you are going the eBay route

No matter where you purchase the kit, I suggest also getting the wiring harness to alleviate the possibility of having problems with the factory harness. It seems to be about a 50/50 shot if you power the HIDs through it. Some people have had problems with fuses blowing (initial amperage demand from ballast) and/or the wiring getting hot and the insulation melting. If you use the wiring harness offered for the HID kits the ballasts are powered directly from the battery (through a relay) and the factory harness is used only to trigger the relay. Well worth the extra $10 or so IMO.
