What if ???

Just a question for all the monte lovers,if you didnt own/have your monte what car would you have in its place and why???Mine would be the Buick Grand National!because of its laid back looks and extreme quickness etc...

tps221 01-27-2013 12:33 PM

crown vic interceptor. foxbody stang or any 5.0 stang. or a lifted ranger with a 5.0 conversion. maybe a 4th gen monte ss with the 305

Zen 01-27-2013 12:39 PM

1968 pontiac firebird with a bbp400 w/th400 teal green.Thats was one of the cars i was looking at around the time I was looking for a car.

MnteCrloSS47 01-27-2013 12:48 PM

I was looking at a 2008 dodge charger R/T while looking for a Monte, so i would probably have that

milrlyt 01-27-2013 02:08 PM

I almost bought an 05 Pontiac GTO. I only got the Monte instead cause a 6.0L V8 was too expensive for a college daily driver. Sigh...

Not that I ever regret getting the Monte but I do wish I had the 05 goat. Maybe someday.

If GM would've sold the 04-06 GTO in Canada, I would be driving one now instead of the Monte.

STUMPMI 01-27-2013 04:18 PM

Without hesitation....

1965 GTO 389 tripower...turns 10.5's in the quarter from the factory!
I use to have one....If I only knew then what I know now!

Mr Grizzly Mint 01-27-2013 04:33 PM

I would have and probably still should have my 94 lumina. Love the monte but it is costing me more money then the money pit i used to drive.

Leprechaun93 01-27-2013 04:36 PM

In my younger days:
I had a friend that owned a hearse! Back when elton john was all the rage...

He painted down the side of it
Mad Man Acroos the Water!
We enjoyed many an outdoor concert in it!
There were a few times at outdoor concerts that it poured down rain..
Thus we eneded up with a few roomies through out the night since these were farm feild Concerts...:rotfl:
Many were not prepared for the weather...Let alone spending the night in a Hearse... (Not being dead yet):rotfl:

Red Nightmare 01-27-2013 05:41 PM

wow thats crazy! Was it atleast roomy?

Not everyone can appreciate the beauty of such a car...

At 1 point we managed to stuff 10 people in it...(sure was "smokey" in there) If you call that comfy..:rotfl:

As far as for him and I..and our dates...
Then YES we had plenty of room to get "Comfy"...;)
I believe Bill and I hungout in that ride for the next few years...
We were essentially "Unique"...

AwesomeSS 01-27-2013 07:59 PM

I would have invested in a 72 Hurst Olds - one of the 220 hardtops with the power sunroof option.

Montess2k 01-27-2013 08:13 PM

At the time I was looking at a 1996 impala, but then opted for something new, so it would probably would have been an Impala, Grand Prix GTP, or Bonneville SSEI

I was also in love with the 1999 Charger, but that never came out.

Joe

Thats my second dream car :)
I was actually going to own one...Dad had a late year model elcamino that he was going to give to me on my 16th birthday. Then....3 months before he came up to me and said he's selling it.
It needed some work, mostly body work but still....the car was gorgeous!

zippy: I've seen pictures of that before! Definitely looks fast... Looks more like Deaths race car :D

Leprechaun93 01-28-2013 10:14 AM

Jen i think you'll like this. A kid in my high school had a hearse as his daily driver. Was a unique ride for sure. He was really into the whole dark thing and i believed he works/worked at a funeral home.

Thanks `Jen, `Keane Member's for posting on `Jakes "What `if Thread"

There's some good prices on hearses & I'd drive one 4-Sure...
Most are low miles (just driven from the funeral home to the graveyard)
Here's one I found 4 around $7K with only 48K E.Z. miles :eek::thumbsup::)

I don't know if that would actually be big enough for use as a hearse. But it would certainly be a cool idea. If you want to take your final ride in style, that's one way to do it.

Taz 01-28-2013 03:15 PM

I know this is kinda off the subject, but there's a local guy who custom made a hearse motorcycle. The hearse part is a custom made side car made of solid wood (stained and varnished), with all chrome fasteners and tie downs. This is not some backyard project. This is professionally done, and looks better in person. Pictures don't do it justice.

The owner started a business of offering his services for people who want to take one last ride. And was used when NHL hockey player Bob Probert died.

awman...if only I lived in florida!

I remember finding a hearse in a salvage website, 70k miles nothing wrong...runs fine they just junked it for a fender bender on the side. Only $700!! but...its way upstate T__T

If I did not have the Monte Carlo, I would be driving a base model Dodge Challenger, or a Dodge Magnum, or I would have a truck, the Ford F-250. I like the look of the Challenger a lot more then the Mustang and the Camaro. And I always wanted a station wagon, probably still gonna get one, one day, or a lifted F-250!!!
