Oh, wow, that looks strikingly similar to a place in France I visited called Annecy. I've always said it was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Looks like a wonderful place to have a wedding. Cool. Congrats to the happy couple. :)

Nice pictures! Thanks for sharing them.
Useless trivia time.... In the late 19th century, Mackinac Island became a popular tourist attraction and summer colony. Much of the island has undergone extensive historical preservation and restoration; as a result, the entire island is listed as a National Historic Landmark. It is well known for its numerous cultural events; its wide variety of architectural styles, including the famous Victorian Grand Hotel; its fudge; and its ban on almost all motor vehicles. More than 80 percent of the island is preserved as Mackinac Island State Park. |

Mike Rowe did an episode of Dirty Jobs from Mackinaw Island. Someday I have to get up there. It's only about 195 miles from me.

My Social Director (a.k.a. The Wife) just informed me that we're taking her parents to the island when we visit MI next week. Cool! Well, cool that we're going to the island...

When are kids were growing up in lower MIchigan. We used to rent a family size cabin on Burt lake,Mi. Then we would take the kids on the ferry over to the Island. For a beautiful drive. And I mean a very cool ride. Take 31 south from Cross Village to Traverse City. It's just fantastic beauty right along the shore line of lake Michigan. There's a stretch of rd there that is so covered with tree's That you have to turn on your headlights. Of course Traverse City is a big tourist trap. But well worth the trip. Some Awesome boats and the view will last you a long time. And you have to bring home some Mackinac Fudge. Oh yeah!!
