transmission rebuild cost?

To the guys who had their transmissions rebuild on 5th, 6th , & 7th gen Montes how much did it run you? I wanna call rebuild shops but im working till 5 or later everyday and they always want u to come in for a test drivr/inspection n i dont have the time for that sadly!
I am getting this thing rebuilt before 2013 but a good average price can help me negotiate with a shop

I have my original 4T65E from my 02 Monte SS just gathering dust in my garage. It has about 60,000 miles on it. I would let it go for about $400 plus shipping. I never ever had a problem with it. It has been sitting in the garage for about 4 years. Don't know if the seals or anything go bad in these sitting around or not... Just thought I would throw this out there for you......

I went with the used transmission route when mine went. It was much cheaper lol

Cost to rebuild will vary by shop and area...but you are looking between 2-3K for a COMPLETE rebuild.

When my wife's '05 Impala trans was bad (when we first bought it, knew it when we bought it), the 4T65 in it we were told would be $1700-$1800 to rebuild. I went salvage trans and it was $1200 all said and done ($750 for the trans delivered to the shop that installed it).

Well I took off work early today and stopped by 11 different shops already lol Monday my car is going into the shop the cost to rebuild it plus removal and installation minus tax will be $1050.00, many of them gave me quotes in that range anyways I didn't go with the cheapest but the best reviewed one! So I'm looking at about $1155.00 total

Not bad. Warranty, warranty, and more warranty...make sure they offer it.

MAMONTE 12-06-2012 07:50 AM

That's a good deal!

Now the question is:

For that amount...is that considered a "soft" rebuild? Or a complete rebuild? drums, bearings etc etc???

Im guessing they will warranty it only for 12 months 12,000 miles....At that price.
