Signature size.

This is something that has been brought to light to us Mods and it should be addressed.

Lately there have been members that have very large sig pics. The size should be 600X200. If you feel the need to have a larger pic, you can upload them to your garage section.

In case anyone is wondering if this really is a rule about the sig pic size, here is rule #15

15.

"Signatures" must not violate any of the posted rules, and kept to a reasonable size. As determined by the staff. Signature pictures should not exceed 600 pixels wide and/or 200 pixels high. The staff reserves the right to edit or remove signatures that are too large, or violate any of the forum rules.

You can read more about the rules here.

https://montecarloforum.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=10023

Your compliance will be greatly appreciated. If a member chooses to ignore the rules, the sig pic will be removed and a warning will be given.

Any time I try to post a larger sig ( even 600x300) it gives me an error message
"File too large"

mrl390 02-05-2011 03:55 PM

Thanks for posting this JJ. I dont even know how big 600x200 actually is. I cant remember when I uploaded mine if it was bigger or smaller than 600x200. I thought mine was actually pretty big when I uploaded it, but lately some members sigs just make mine look puny. Im not worried about members sigs being exactly 600x200 or less but dont make them so big that they take up the whole page. Make it as wide as you want, as long as it doesnt make the page wider, just be aware of the height mostly. I dont want to look at an 5x3 photo of your car every time I read your post.

If you are unsure if your sig is too big or not, it probably is. PM one of us with your sig pic if you are unsure and we will let you know if its too big or not.

Well if you're using a program like Photoshop, you can tell it the exact size. Which is what I use. However, for members that don't use that and use a cheaper editor you can't always set the size. For anyone that's unsure, the box below is EXACTLY 600x200

Thanks for posting that Mike. 600x200 is alot bigger than I would have guessed. I cant see any reason for needing more space than that.

I would only ask of the mods to tell me if I am to big. I would be happy to take it down. I am not sure what size it is. Please just send me a pm if it needs to change. :D :D :D

I just try to keep it reasonable.

I've been a member of many forums over the years. I've seen some sites with larger signature picture limits, and some with much smaller. MCF is about right in the middle with 600x200. The staff all agree that 600x200 is not unreasonable for a signature picture. You can still add text. Including links to photo galleries with pics of your kick-a$$ rides.

I've found that when people post with really large sigs, it becomes hard to tell what is the actual post and what's signature.

Also keep in mind that some of your fellow members access the site on their cell phone. Constantly loading large sig pics eats into some members' data plan. :(

We're all proud of our cars. But like JJ said, please leave the larger pictures to photo galleries. People can view them at their leisure and leave comments for you too! :)

I think I just resized mine too small...

Nope! I should be good!

Looks good to me Greg.
