I agree to an extent... I mean, you should have the rights to do whatever you please providing you do not go as far as to infringe on the rights of others. When you crash into other people on a public highway because you were texting on your phone, then you infringed on the rights of the person's you crashed into right to protect their property. How would any of us like to have our Monte's creamed at a red light because somebody was texting and didn't realize you were stopped!?!?!

i dont think it should be allowed, they have blootooth headsets out now for up here, your not even allowed to hold your phone and talk on it while driving, you have to use those headsets

there was a little boy up here got run over and the lady that hit him never even seen him because she was texting on her cell phone. now the parents of the boy lost their little boy because of a stupid mistake that could have been prevented by waited for a little bit till she stopped or was done driving..why in such a hurry anymore, i couldn't imagine if that was my kid that got hit.

I live on my bluetooth in my car. I don't text or anything (although on my bberry I can text without looking) I don't do it because it's illegal (now in Philly) but I do it because I care about my car and I don't want anything stupid to happen in it.

The same reason I won't eat or drink while driving (or in the car)

Texting should be against the law while driving. If people didnt text and drive there would be many crashes that wouldnt have happened. One of wich happened in front of the in laws house. He is no longer with us.Now his 11 year old daughter dosnt have a dad and everyone else in the family has to live with his mistake. This could have been prevented if he wasnt texting and driving.

I think texting should be illegal and i never understood it, why take the time to type it when you can go to your contact list and call the person, its safer and save you time.
I dont ever text while drive, not for the safety reasons, but because i think its stupid and a waste of time. Texting is for when you cant really make a call, for example if you're in a meeting or something. I am able to be on the phone and drive without a problem at all.
I can concentrate enough to keep my eye on the road and around my vehicle, its not a distraction, so i should be allowed to talk on the phone lol.
Texting IMO is more of risk than talking on the phone.

some drivers are bad enough without those distractions. like i do talk on the phone while i'm driving but as crazy as it sounds i become more alert while i'm doing it, idk its all sorts of crazy. texting? i have texted while driving but its always been when there is no one around me, not while its rainy or wet outside or anything of that nature, and theyre always small messages. the only time i text long messages is if i'm stopped at a red light or stop sign. in other words, i'm not one of the 'dumb' ones lol

Default ....Texting

Our state passed a Law to make it illegal to text while driving but it only
applies to teenagers but it should be for ALL Drivers. I don't even like to
use my cell phone while driving but I will only for urgent matters or emergencies.
Phones are good to have with you while taking long trips but not for trips
to Wal - Mart , or the Burger Joint.
I have had so many Close wrecks because of someone talking on their phone
while driving.....running red lights, .....cutting over on me...etc..etc...
We are living in a society that seems to getting more distracted by things
that really aren't that important. If you need to talk to someone, just wait til
you get home. But I'm an Old Guy from the 80's.
Just use common sense.

It's illegal here in Ontario, Canada now too.

I think hands free phone calls should be okay. But no texting. Plus with the thousands of Apps available for iPhones (and iPhone clones under other brand names), it's too easy for someone to be playing games, surfing the net, or even watching videos on their iPhone while driving.

I don't want someone plowing into some innocent person because the driver was too busy checking out facebook on their iPhone.
