Riveting on glass

Does anyone have experience with replacing the rivets on a window regulator? I'm worried about shattering the window since I need to rivet the regulator to the glass (not my Monte). I'm hoping I'm just being paranoid about it but really don't want to break it.

I'm curious what you are working on?

The only thing I recall seeing on some cars that is riveted in are called "sash clips". Luckily, I never had to replace ones that were riveted. I would think you would have to drill out the rivets, the new clip would then need to be bolted in??? If so, I would assume a lock washer in the equation.
I replaced a sash clip on my Grand Am because it cracked. Those were glued on. With the right prep, gluing the new one on was successful on the first try.

It’s a 97 Town Car. There are what appear to be nylon spacers on the window itself, looks to be clipped on so the pressure from the rivet isn’t directly on the glass. When I drilled out the old rivets the spacers didn’t break and they didn’t give me new spacers. I ended up using Loctite nuts on them but I don’t want them too tight and break the window, so the window doesn’t seal perfectly at the top when it’s up
