What kind of oil & filter do you use in your V 8 SS ?

 

i use Mobile 1 full synthetic and a gm filter. I might try Royal Purple next change it is supposed to be really good but super expensive.

 

My Father uses conventional pennzoil and Fram xtra guard.

 

Mobil 1 fully synthetic and wix filter

 

Mobil 1 and Napa Gold filter. I used to use the Delco filters, but they cheapened them up.

 

i dont own one. but help maintainone. we use a napa gold 1042 and conventional erl. napa gold. its a wix filter in another box. and i use napa synthetic in my monte 02 which is bottled by valvoline. honestly motor oil brand doesn't matter much if u keep ur oil clean. i got 4-5 thousand miles between changes but halfway i swap the filter out and top off. u can see the color difference if u just change the filter. napa is now offering a long life filter called napa platinum which is design for the long interval of synthetic oil changes. but gold has held up for many many years without fail

 

Thanks for all the info. I change my own oil in my cars most of the time. When it gets too damn cold it goes to the dealer. I was curious about what everyone on here used. I always use the Wix filter on my cars. But oil is a personal choice I guess. I used Mobil 1 in my Trucks for yrs. The oil in the Monte is so clean. But I like to change it before it gets too cold to do it myself. Mostly because it sits for up to 4 to 5 months during the winter. Thanks again.

 

In my GTO i use Mobil 1 full synthetic 15000 mile oil with anything but a fram filter

 

I have an 87 ss and all i use is mobil 1 full synthetic oil and napa gold filters. Hope that helps!

 

I don't have a V8 Monte SS but on my 73 Z28 I avoid Fram filters like the plague. I prefer WIX myself. Right now I'm running conventional only because I'm unsure of exactly how the previous owner set the motor up. Once I am able to pull the motor and clean it up the way I want it I'll start running full synthetic.
