Good morning guys, first day of November already.

We had a little bit of snow yesterday actually, nothing that stuck to the ground though. Parts of Northern Lower MI and the Upper Peninsula have up to 9" of snow on the ground right now, the majority of the deeper snow is in the U.P. west of Marquette.

9 days until we go pick up our new member of the family! She's a Boston Terrier puppy, currently 6.5 weeks old.

Wow we had our first little snow but today it is gone already. It must have deterred the Trick or Treaters because we never had a one. We went to church for All Saints, left a basket with candy bars out with a sign to take one or so. It was never touched and when we got back home the door bell never rang.
We usually get around 75 or more?
But they have all kinds of events in town for the kids to do.

We were at the Red Wings game last night so I have no clue how many trick-or-treaters we had in our neighborhood.

Detroit's Christmas Tree arrived and is being installed today... 61' tall Norwegian Spruce from Cadillac, Michigan.

Happy November! I officially aged another year yesterday, and got the Monte running again... So far so good!

Good morning MCF! How is everyone?

I have been doing good. The SS is running much better since the stuck valve scare. I dodged a bullet for sure. If I am able to keep the SS through the divorce I might go ahead and plan an engine swap. Sadly, in spite of all of my efforts trying to keep things civil, things have turned ugly. If she has her way I would have to sell the house, car, truck... and start over. Ouch! I am a mentally strong person though and will recover strong. Even after all of her bad deeds to me I still wish she could find some internal happiness. She is still the mother of my children. They stay with me a lot, I wish it was all the time.

There is a lady at work that has a burgundy '86 SS Monte for sale. I would love to have but it needs a lot of work. It is her daily driver but I think a few months of TLC could turn it around. Maybe after the dust settles if I lose the '01 I can get the '86. It would be a good project for the kids and I.

I put up a new photo contest, its kind of an anything goes contest with the Halloween type theme. Barb had this one very similar to it last year. So I will dedicate that for her memorial. Check the link.

Greetings everyone.

So I got my Monte back a couple weeks ago from having the rocker ground fx re-finished. The paint work is great, but a couple small issues I have to fix myself that has me irritated. I pulled the driver side one off because there was a gap I did not recall between it and the body. Replacing all the body clips. Plus, fixing another issue I caught. When I put it on, I will be mounting the fender skirt properly (it is to be between the bottom of the fender and the end cap of that ground fx, instead they had it behind the fender so it pushes in allowing debris to gather). I pulled the insurance off the car for the winter season, but still need to final clean it for the winter.

I had a branch fall on my Grand Am a couple weeks ago on my drive home. Sadly, I am on the hook for the cost of that (I tried to get the city to cover it, they handed it to insurance, and the insurance finds no fault with the city). I get the Grand Am back tomorrow. A different shop got the Grand Am and they also repaired a small rust spot on the car. Took a little less than 2 weeks to finish it all as they had a paint match issue.

Fun times with car stuff!!

Evening everyone. Jason, that's wild about the branch falling on the Grand Am. At least you're ok. Of course the insurance company found no fault. They don't want to shell out any money.

It's been a very busy, and draining week and a half for me. I was in the accident with my Monte on the 27th. I had to deal with what seemed like a hundred different people on the phone immediately after getting out of the hospital, the same day as the accident. Had to work the night of the accident, and the next 4 days after. Had to file paperwork on the Monday after the accident, to see the prosecutor to hopefully reduce the charge of careless driving. Not eliminate it, just reduce it. Spent all last week dealing with insurance adjusters and looking for another car. Again, all while working midnight shift. All of this while being in a lot of pain, and in a slight mental fog, from the accident. So I never got a chance to properly rest and heal after the accident. I had nobody to help me with it.

The good news is I found another vehicle. Bad news it's not a Monte. I was looking at the possibility of buying an 06 or 07 SS. But there were none for sale that were close by. The closest ones were at least a 4-6 hour drive away. And that's a long way to go for a test drive in cars that were way over priced to begin with.

So I didn't buy another Monte. But I'm still driving a Chevy. It's a 2013 Chevy Silverado. I was open to a car or a truck. I wasn't sure what kind of car I would be interested in. I looked at 2010+ Camaro's and a few 2009 Pontiac G8's. But they were high miles, over priced, and were obviously driven hard.

I considered a new Dodge Charger, since they do look pretty bad a**. Not crazy about the older designs. But the price of a new car is out of the question. So that took care of that decision real quick. I also considered a used Challenger. But to me they look like a Camaro with weight problem. If I'm gonna buy something that resembles a Camaro, I might as well buy a real Camaro.

So anyway, after yet another long post by Taz, here's the new ride.

The_Maniac 11-07-2017 09:24 PM

Glad to see you found a new ride Lou. Hope your aches and pains are fading and that you are recovering from the accident.
