Here is a photo I took about a year ago in my small town. The town was founded in the 19th century at the intersection of two railroads, and there is a link below to a Wikipedia page telling that story... This caboose is parked in our little "downtown" area, and I thought it would make a cool photo with the colors closely resembling those of my car....

I saw a most awesome train mural on a business in downtown Gilroy today and was try and come back when there is no cars parked on the street. Thing was bigger than life size.
The oldie I entered here is at the top of the Southern Pacific locomotive that is or was a play structure at the Dennis the Menace playground in Monterey. Generations have climbed all over it, let imaginations go wild and if you could find a good rock you'd climb up to the bell and ring it incessantly (since the clapper was removed). Today the train is fenced off to protect the children from whatever bruises and bumps previous kids like myself got from it :( |

It didn't have a Cowcatcher in front. But was sure fun to climb around on we played our share of Cowboys and Indians on it. |
