who's 57 chevy?
lookls like it could be a 210 or even the 150. if it is a 150 need to hang on to it. they are not easy to come by at all

It's mine Mickey.

Got it oct 27, 2004. Some say I stole it. I paid $300 for it with a Muncie 4-speed. Only thing I did not get was an engine. Found a local guy parting a '79 Camaro. Got the engine/trans combo, headers, drive shaft, underhood wiring harness (just in case), even a trans cooler for $300. Should have bought the rear end cause it was a posi.

But the car is a 210. Good call.

Oh. And yes I know the car needs some TLC. But it hasn't seen the road for close to 30 years. For what I paid for it I can't complain.

From that angle, the body looks like it's not in too bad a shape. Not much visible rust.
What's the rest of it like?

Verry nice job.,

If you need some help on it let me know!!
I have done a copel of the tri 5's
you going to put the belair trim on it? seems like everyone dose this.
looks nice but i guess it is real nice to see some with out that to.
But nice job.
as far as the rear end you might see if it is still there.
Other wise you can look in to the newer camaros i think the later model of like the i roc fit with out having to cut the axels on them. it has been a while i used a ford 9" in the last one i did with a buddy.

RE: Just A Little Project

The pass side rocker needs repaired. Whoever painted it blue (original colors are Sierra Gold - Adobe Beige) didn't do that good of a job....... of course.

After a little repair work, (brakes, brake & fuel lines, remove and clean fueltank) I could be driving it.

This isthe car I asked MCF members about the build I was considering? Doing a copycat build of my buddy's '57 Chevy 2-door Sedan.

Paint the car flat black, install the aluminum slotted mags I have, old carpet out of my 2-door Wagon, keep the Muncie 4-speed in it, bucket seats, and find a cowl scoop for the hood cause I happen to like them alot.

Mickey,
He wasn't happy parting with the car. He said it was his first car he got in 1975 when he was 15. From what we can gather he only drove the car one year.

I have seen so many 210s dressed as BelAirs it's not funny. And then they get sold as a BelAir, the new owner has no clue so you tried to help the guy understand he does not own a BelAir and now he wants to fight. I have no plans on BelAir-izing this car. One thing about it, it's a 210 DelRay. In 1957 Chevy made 25,000 DelRays. Not a small amount but when most model runs reach 100,000 or more units it really is small.

A DelRay got carpet versus the rubber floor covering all other 210s got and it got a BelAir style interior versus the standard 210 interiors.

Finding a posi 9" rear would be nice.

The ’57 Chevy is one of the most recognized icons in the Automotive industry. Stylish and Sporty the there’s no doubt that it’s one of America’s best and most loved cars.

The 1957 Chevrolet a few different trim levels; the base-model "150" series, the mid-range "210" series, and the upscale Bel Air series. An upscale trim option called the "Del Ray" was also available for 210 2-door sedans, and there was a limited production two-door station wagon called the "Nomad" and also even scarcer was the "El Morocco", a custom hand-built series that mimicked the Cadillac.

Under the hood Chevrolet had achieved an engineering milestone, Ed Cole worked magic developing Chevy’s small-block V8 engine. The original edition was enlarged to 283 cu, with several optional power packages available, pushing it up to 283 hp. The Super Turbo-Fire 283, a $550 option, produced the advertised 283 horsepower with the help of Ramjet continuous-flow fuel injection.

On the outside the Bel Air was distinguished with more chrome and featured a golden grille set off with a heavy chrome bar that included parking lights. The rear fins were capped with chrome moldings and highlighted with anodized aluminum side trim panels. The fuel-filler door was concealed in the left rear chrome fin trim, a small but convenient detail that helped clean up exterior lines.

The 1955-57 Chevrolets remain a favorite with hot-rodders and classic car enthusiasts.

MAN IM JELOUSE!!!!!

there is a wagon here not sure what it is and or if they would sell it but i have seriously thought of asking. I know it is a 57 just havent gotten close enough to find out what model.

del rays are not a easy find weven if they were not "rare" i know for fact they are not plentaful either LOL

Rockers are cheap!! and the paint can be changed. seems like most of the cars from that era have had the paint changed at one time or another and if not changed they were restored or repainted. but those are like red or blue most of the time but ones that were not a common color or a strange colors were not left that way most of the time.

One i had was the crokus yellow and onx black. LOVED THAT CAR!!!! but it was the one that was hit in the side and totaled it out.

RE: Just A Little Project

Sorry to hear about your '57, Mickey.

I let three get away from me since I've been into them.
One was a BelAir 2-door Sedan (post). Black with red/black interior. Under the hood was a 235 6 cylinder that just purred. The trans was a powerglide. I found it setting in a guy's backyard. He told me to make an offer on it. I said, "$20."
He said "give me $40 and it's yours." The man even put a new battery in the car for me.
I wanted a V8 under the hood of my first car so I sold this one to a guy I went to high school with for $75. He sold it to his cousin who spray canned the car blue, pulled the 6 cylinder out and junked the car.

Another was a BelAir 2-door Hardtop I bought from $25. No engine/trans and not much interior to speak of. My parents said to get it off their property so I asked a guy in the car club I was in if his dad would let me park it on his farm. I toold the car there and guys in the same car club went over and stripped parts off of it without my permission. What was left wasn't worth saving. And the guy's dad started threatening me to get it off his property or else. I was helping a guy bail hey and he came over one day with his tractor and wagon and helped me get what was left of this car to the local salvage yard.

I also had a 210 4-door Sedan that was Colonia Cream/Imperial Ivory that was bought new by a guy who was my next door neighbor...... his uncle. This uncle bought a car every 10 years. When I met him he owned a:
'27 Chevy, 37, Chevy, '47 Chevy, '57 Chevy, '67 Chevy, a '77 Chevy and he was getting ready to buy an '87 Chevy and decided to sell one of his cars. The nephew got the '57 and sold it to me. This car spent it's life on a farm and spent extended times out on the back 40 just setting in the field. The floor had rusted completely away in the front under the seat and they used plywood to repair the floor then bolted the front seat back on to the plywood. Back then (in 1987) there wasn't that much for 4-doors like there it today so I parted the car. Wish I hadn't. It had 102,000 miles on it's original 235 6 cylinder, 3-speed manual trans, and not many toys other then a radio and deluxe heate. I kept as much as I could off this car.

I dont blame ya
like i siad i have had my fare share of the 55-57/

matter of fact there is a 55 4dr. that poped up recently here by where we go to get sand for the concreet plant.
and right next to is a 55 2dr of some kind. didnt see the side for the chrome to tell you the series.
but it looked liek it was done and the paint was shiny the other one the looked unrestored still

i had
56 rag top black belair. ALL stock refused to let any part of it to be anythign but stock
56 4dr belair this was parted out. But wish i had it now 3 spped on the colum and had the 283 with OVER DRIVE!!! UHHHGGGG!! wish i hadent gave it up . have never seen one since with the factory over drive rear end.
56 2dr. post org. with a 283 (yes a org. 283 not the 265. ) was the power pack version .
552dr hardtop V-8 4speed.
and the last oen was the 56 4dr belair. with windows, brakes and even power steering and a padded dash
this car was all org. I traded it off for a jeep want to kill the fool that has it now.

then i got in to Camaros and monte carlos.
and most of the time i have owne one or both at the same time.
but i think the next one will be a camaro or her rustang.
