Do you think this will have an effect on a Future Monte Carlo revival?

I think this and the CAFE regs coming in. I think we will never see another V8 powered Monte.

What do you think?

L.K.
I find this news very sad [X(]for the automotive World,
for us, the consumer's.
I think `if the USA had a United Health Care Plan
for all,
and the US auto Companies didn't have to
pay the highcost. Then they could be more competive in the market.
I think with the advances in auto computer's,
that V-8's will still be a source of power.
(even under the projected CAFE rules)
I hope that North American's wake up, and
re-tape into their talents...When we snooze,
we lose : (
LK, thanks for your post/infor.
i wanta new Monte Carlo V-8 :D

I'll just be glad to see the Monte back.

We will more then likely never see a new Monte Carlo only because there really is no market for a large coupe

If GM markets it to the right Consumer Group I think it would sell.
BUT The Camaro is going to target that group so forget about it LOL.

the last year of the MC only sold a little over 20,000 units, and almost half of that went to rentals. granted much could be said that it was 8 years between a major redesign, but I don;t think you will see another MC, unless there is this huge change over large coupes

Once the american market get's sick of anemic, two star crash ratedtin cans... there will be a re-surgance of support for midsize, sporty coupes.

give it 8 years or so, 6 years into the Cafe bullsheite, trust me :-)

Sooner or later the big 3... (or is it the big 2 now?) will get tired of losing 3% of market share per year, will buy out some big time lobby-ists, and get the stuff de-billed... or whatever it's called.

Willimported vehicleshave to meet the Cafe Requirements? There's some incredibly peppy coupes from other countries... they're all tiny, but if they're faster....

Guys, start buyingall unwrecked2000-later bodies from junkyards. Once cafe hits rebuilt cars that only have to meet their year of manufacturing requirements will be getting huge.

I don't think it looks good for any kind of return for the Monte Carlo.
All the local Chevy dealers here, have at least two left over 2007 Monte's still unsold.
The Chevy dealer I bought my Dale Jr. from still has another brand new 2004 Dale Jr. edition never sold.

good grief taz... wish i played around on here before buying mine.. i would drive up and offer to take it off theri hands for.. oo... $10,000 :)

if its' been there that long, i'm sure several people have made some offers, and they just want more than tis worth...

btw, an item is only worth what people are willign to pay for it in my opinion.

I think alot of the vehicles like the Monte are going away completely. I think we will start seeing less options and getting more specialized vehicles. More tin can gas savers, family cars, and then the big trucks and fast coupes.
