G6 GTP turbo??!?!?

comments?? http://www.g6performance.com/phpBB3/...pic.php?t=6432. Nice if it can hold up

Thats an awesome setup. I kinda like the G6's and that makes me like them even more.

I don't know about that....I don't think it will hold up....I bet he throws a rod in less than 10k miles.

Why do you think that?

That 3.9 engine looks STRANGELY FAMILIAR....

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm??????

I hope it works out.
It shows promise for 3.9 Monte owners, that someone is starting to make performance upgrades for the 3.9 engine. The Monte has more room in the engine bay than the G6 does, which may make it easier to shoe-horn under the hood.

But I'm wondering how well the stock internals inside the engine are gonna hold up.

Matt--that's why I think that, exactly what Taz said. I know a lot of people have put blowers/turbos on N/A cars with no other mods to heads/pistons/rods/and what not with no problem...but I'm a believer that a motor that has a high compression will fail with moderate to high boost. I've seen it over and over again. The 3900 has a 9.8:1 compression ratio whereas the L36 3800's have a 9.4:1 so boosting that motor will be easier on internals than with the 3900...We'll just see. I really hope it works though, and my other question is why does itonly work with a manual transmission?

I bet it has to do with how he ran his tubing. Maybe he ran it in a way that would not work if an auto was in there. I dont know how much of a size difference if any there is between the auto and manual but that would be my guess.

Is that engine the 3.9 or the 3.6? I didnt know the 3.9 came in G6's unless he stuffed one in there. I bet he wouldnt have a problem with engine failure as long as he doesnt run an insane amount of boost. Maybe 7psi at the max, but thats all you really need.

yeah the 3.9 comes in the GTP. I bet you're right about the tubing and the trans too. I don't know, I'm leary of it because its easy to overboost sometimes and anything over 10 psi could kill that motor.....

From Wikicars:

LZ9
The new LZ9 3900 features Variable Cam Timing, a new feature on a pushrod engine, roller rocker arms and has a variable resonance intake manifold. It produces 240 hp (179 kW) and 240 ft·lbf (332 Nm) torque, with a wide torque curve.
