Even though it cost the USA a $2.5 cents to made a penny in today's metal market (That's not good business to me : ). I wish I owned a Rolls Royce....I'd sell it for the estimate below & get me a ZR'1 : )

1930 Rolls-Royce Phantom II
Sold for: $181,682
Estimate: $237,381-$284,858

It looks like a shiny new penny, but it’s worth much more. Estimated to bring in over $200,000, this car’s body was made using solid copper, the only Rolls-Royce to have that distinction, according to its owner & a Kid from `Space. He knows everything about `nothing : ) 4-Real ~> Sure : )

Now that you mention it...

Here in Canada, it costs 1.5 cents to make a penny. That's even after the government changed the mixture of copper and other metals in the penny. It's been like that for a number of years. One of the politicians made an official motion to discontinue the penny after 2011. Still needs to be voted on though. With the speed of government, that outta happen somewhere around 2036. :p

Sorry for hijacking the thread. Back on topic.

I used to LOVE that car. They used different years, note round and quad rectangle headlight grilles. I don't know if they ever explained it during the show.

In those days of tv, they usually didn't care about that level of continuity details. Heck, watch episodes of The Dukes Of Hazard. You can see blatant changes like that with the police cars. One camera shot the car has two round lights. The next shot, it's got four rectangular lights. All part of the same car chase scene.

Those were the days before people got picky about every little detail being perfect and accurate.

They did the same thing on Knight Rider. Every year they would update KITT's body. Just pay attention to the front end of the cars. The KITTs from the last season look different than the KITTs from the first season. The changes weren't as drastic as the changes in the car from the Rockford Files though.

Early version of KITT:

Latter version of KITT:
