The 2003 is a classic example of what I've said in the past. People see a black and silver Chevy, and it automatically becomes a Dale Earnhardt (or Intimidator) edition. In this case, it doesn't help that someone stuck the Intimidator badge on the trunk lid.
The 5th gen... well... it's not a Z34. Most people wouldn't know that unless they're familiar with 5th gen Montes though.
That's why it always pays to do your homework before buying. When buying a used car, it's always buyer beware. There's always the possibility you're paying premium price someone's modded base model.
That's also why modded cars are harder to sell. How do I know the engine mod you put in your car was done right?

The 5th gen could be a z34 but it's listed with the 3400 in it and that couldn't be in 1998. Maybe they just don't know what motor is in it?
The 03 Intimidator is very wrong though....

What about all of the other cosmetics being spot on? No chrome strip on hood, bumper cover is correct, dual exhaust, alloy wheels, black 'monte carlo' emblems..

I'm simply saying it's kind of hard to make a mistake on the engine if it's clearly labelled 3400 or 3800 right on top of the engine. But of course, it's possible the seller has never opened the hood and looked for himself.
As for the other stuff. We all know how common it is for people to put the higher end body panels and such onto a lower end model. As for the exhaust? Without seeing what engine is in it, or the exhaust set up he's got installed, I don't know. Anything is possible at this point.
Maybe the seller put 3400 in the ad by mistake. I don't know.

Honestly I didn't know all the differences between the LS and Z34 until Justin (zzapultimate) pointed them out so I can understand someone not knowing. That's why when buying a used car you need to know your stuff........
