RE: Cleaner air linked to global warming????

sorry to double post, but i thought id give you guys a quick rundown...
obviously, its not a monte....

its a 1983 dodge mirada...the engine is a 1969 plymouth 340, 40 over...low compression pistons, 360 heads chopped for compression, Mopar performance camshaft 528 lift 294 duration, roller rockers, edelbrock airgap intake, barry grant race carb with proform race center to increase it to 800cfm, MSD ignition, MSD 8.8mm wires, flowtech headers, 3.5 inch stainless exhaust through flowmaster supercomp race mufflers, 3000 Transpecialties TC, shift kit, fully built 1969 trans with manual valve body, 4.10 richmond gears, suregrip rear diff, hoosier 26x12.5x15 DOTs...(best DOT legal tire for drag racing in the world).

ran mid 12s last year with 7 yo valve springs and a 5yo timing chain, 10 year old bottom end. 4000lb car.its actually low 500s in hp..the 600 includes the now removed NOS setup, which i never once used...however, i had some engine issues due to the bad valve springs and timing chain...so right now its in PA having new springs and chain inserted, all new bottom end bearings, and then getting retuned. the 4.10 gear is being pulled for a 4.56 gear. with a standard horsepower calculation, 4000hp traveling a standing quarter mile at 12 seconds flat requires 594.77 crank horsepower. the times that i am turning now requires 513.78 horsepower.

i bought the car when i was 15..and had it built to show, as they were very rare, and among the last cars dodge raced in NASCAR. with the stock engine it ran a best of 16.50 or so....but i got a great deal on the 340. bear in mind...these hp numbers and track times are on 87 octane. no, im not kidding. my low 16 second stratus requires 92 octance or better, but my 513hp car requires 87..:D

RE: Cleaner air linked to global warming????

that cold air box is getting old, and i have direct ram air through that scoop, and at about 80mph + i was having problems with the air forcing its way out so we wrapped duct tape around it to keep it tight...until it gets to the times we want, its all function, and no form. ;) my QM speeds range from 103-106 depending on the track.
