Default Chevy Nomad + Camaro in 2009 + Blue Devil : )

BlIn 2009 Chevrolet will unveil a Lambda-based Chevrolet crossover that will be called Nomad and that will bring back a storied nameplate that dates back to the 1950s. The Chevrolet Nomad was a station wagon produced by the Chevrolet from 1955 to 1961.
The Nomad name would be resurrected and used on a new crossover that would be a sibling to the 2007 GMC Acadia. The upcoming Chevrolet crossover will be a seven-seater with unibody construction that will replace the slow-selling Chevrolet Uplander. Sources say Chevrolet is convinced that returning to retro names — although not to retro styling — is the way to win consumers. It’s similar to a trend that is in vogue with other domestic manufacturers, including Ford, which recently revived the Taurus name.
The Nomad design was an offshoot of a 1954 GM Motorama show car of the same name that was based on the Corvette. Chevrolet also revived the Nomad name on a 2004 concept vehicle off the Kappa platform that featured a removable rear roof panel and a folding tailgate.

Popular Mechanics caught the Corvette "Blue Devil" on testing on a a General Motors test track outside Detroit. The "Blue Devil" is expected to be unveiled at the New York auto show. Chevy turned heads earlier this year with the introduction of the C6 Z06 performance model, which built upon the stock C6s bar-raising capabilities by dropping in a hand-built 505-horsepower 7.0-liter LS7 pushrod V8 with 470 lb-ft of torque. Add that to a suspension system, brakes, and gearbox that were(...)"To Dare 2 Dream" `Space

Chevrolet announced that the Blue Devil will officially be called Corvette SS (Super Sport). The 2009 SS will be powered by a 7.0 litre V8 engine with an output of 650 hp. This will help the car to make the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 3.5 seconds and have a top speed of 215 mph.WOW, The SS wil feature carbon ceramic brakes. Some spyshots of the new Corvette SS surfaced but we had to remove them has GM contacted several website already. To make the story short, an EMO TRANS employee took the(...) After eight months of deliberation, General Motors have publicly reached a decision and have announced that the retro-design muscle car first shown in January at NAIAS will make it to production as the fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro. The new car will follow the current trend of ‘pony car’ resurrection and has to compete with the Ford Mustang and future Dodge Challenger as it did back in the early 1970s.

The new Camaro is part of GM’s attempt of strengthening their product lineup, one of the main elements in the automaker’s restructuring plan. General Motors is fighting to recuperate its position in North America, its primary market, to allow turn around the business. GM have lost $85 million in the US during the last three month, which may appear as a lot, but in fact is 150% better than a year earlier.
The first Camaro was introduced as a 1967 model and was Chevy’s answer to the Ford Mustang. The model was stopped at its fourth generation in 2002 model, after about 4.8 million units were produced.
As a reaction to Ford Mustang’s success GM has unveiled the Camaro concept at the 2006 Detroit North American International Auto Show. The concept was “intended to explore customer reaction to design and engineering elements that might lead to an all-new version of the Camaro" as a GM official has stated.
The concept car was 186.2 inches long and used a 110.5-inch wheelbase. The wheels were concept car size reaching 21s at the front and 22s at the rear and where shod with huge 275/30 front and 305/30 rear tires, but they won’t make it to production. The power plant under the bonnet was a 400 bhp LS2 6.0-liter V-8 engine mated with a six-speed manual transmission.
At eight months after the launch of the concept car, the production version was officially announced. It is rumored to use the so-called Zeta Lite platform that Chevrolet will share with Holden in . This architecture can hardly be described as hardly cutting edge, but is a lot more sophisticated than the rigid-axle Mustang. Inside sources point that the $20,000 base model is likely to use an inexpensive V8 (as the LS2 will equip a more expensive model), therefore a V6 version will only be made available for insurance cost reduction.
The new Camaro was announced to resemble a lot to the concept car unveiled in January at NAIAS. The initial production is said to begin at the end of 2008, and the car is expected to become available in showrooms in the first quarter of 2009. However, that will be three years after it’s unveiling in Detroit. The Dodge Challenger, another retro-style pony car, also was also introduced at NAIAS and is due to be available for sale in 2008. The Challenger will use a chassis already in production, which will shorten development time.
Market analysts anticipate that most of the Camaro buyers will be enthusiasts, people who owned one when they were younger. Unfortunately, the market preferences are changing a lot faster than many vehicle manufacturers can predict. The fuel efficiency is these days one of the top three buyer priorities, and this tendency is most likely to affect muscle car sales. This makes hard to schedule a car for launch two to three years from now and make it resonating with the consumers.

The Chevrolet Nomad was a station wagon produced by the Chevrolet from 1955 to 1961.

I see no mention of the Chevelle version (around 1965) that was a 2-door Wagon with the name plate "Nomad" on them. A guy I was friends with owned two of them. His first one was rear-ended at a red light by a woman not paying attention. she hit his Wagon so hard it bent the frame rails and knocked the side windows out on impact.

As much as I know he loved that Wagon (big block with a 4-speed in it) I'm surprised the woman was still living after this???????

Chevrolet Trax

DETROIT — Next week at the New York auto show, Chevrolet will pull the wraps off three new Korea-designed minicar concepts — and will ask Web viewers to vote for their favorite.

To be officially unveiled April 4 at the auto show are three design concepts based on General Motors' global minicar platform, including a tiny crossover called Chevrolet Trax. The minicar platform was engineered in Korea by GM Daewoo, and all three minicar concepts were created at the automaker's design studio in Incheon.

Chevy says the concepts are intended to appeal to "young car buyers in urban markets." After April 4, Web users can vote for their favorite at www.vote4chevrolet.com. The division says it will use the results to help it determine U.S. market interest in the minicar segment, as well as to learn which design appeals the most to potential buyers in the States.

The four-door Trax is powered by a 1.0-liter engine, with an orange exterior paint scheme.
