Any ram owners or former owners help?

This is just a strictly opinion, so I own a 2001 Dodge Ram sport and love it my only problem is I wanna know why the sport was more desirable over the SLT model, my one complaint is the pure plastic front bumper why would one want that over the plastic and chrome bumper on the SLT package?

also why make a sport truck a 4x4 mine is a 4x4 and when i heas sport or SS for a truck i think of 2wd horsepower machine or sports truck not a winter 4x4 truck

Sport is just an appearence pkg on trucks to make em look better, i prefer everything to be body color

Agreed but i mean i don't think the all plastic would go over great i mean u hit something light and its gunna be all scratched n stuff, where as chrome you may get a dent or a scuff thats buffable

I loved my black with red trim '97 Ram Sport 1500 4x4. Pretty sure the front on the earlier Sports like mine was painted metal though, instead of the full plastic cover. It's been a while since I sold it... I think they went to the plastic cover on the Sports in '99 or so.

98 was the first year for the full plastic bumper & now adays trucks rarely have much for a metal bumper

I knew it had to be around there. They changed the dash too and added the passenger side airbag. Mine had the old dash, driver airbag only.

I like the look of the Sport bumper and the headlights over the SLT. I have not owned one yet but I like that generation RAM.

Yup & 98 was the first year for the rear doors

I REALLY would have liked to have had the rear doors. Mine was a '97 club cab, so no rear doors yet. I might have kept it even longer if it had the rear doors, but the gas mileage was killing me as a daily driver.
