230. Dear God.
http://www.chevrolet.com/pages/open/...future/volt.do
Read the page, then come back here. So, if you actually read the page, you should know that the new Chevy Volt is estimated to get 230 MILES TO THE GALLON. It probably won't be that good, but even if it's only getting 100, that's still amazingly good. The car can get up to 40 miles on a single charge, so that means a single gallon of burnt fuel can charge the turbine nearly 6 times. This is probably the most amazing thing I've seen in a long time. I'm tempted to buy this car as soon as it comes out. I mean, the potential savings on gasoline are extremely insane. |
Vtec gets more insane mpg yo lol.
Looks like a great car though, best electric vehicle yet, besides the tesla. |
We don't speak of honda in a good light on these forums.
But I can't resist... VTEC JUST KICKED IN YO! |
First person to gets it into the 11s wins.
|
It would work well for me since my comute each day is never more than 20 miles.

Thats easy. Push it off a cliff.:D:D |
I don't know about you guys, but I will never drive a hybrid/testicular getter-ridder-ofer/ demanification machine. I like the sounds of a big block idling and feeling the power inside slightly shaking the cabin. Instead of doing exhaust muffler you will be replacing the exhaust speaker.

Don't get me wrong, Cut Throat, I love roar and rumble of an idling monster as well, but I also love the advancement in technology...
Can't I drive the fuel saver during the day and bring my monster out at night to whoop people's ass in street races? All the money i save on gas can go straight into my other car... |
Laugh all you want. I'm getting one of these for the top of my car.
http://sitch.org/sailing/images/2006...s__600_800.jpg Then I can still drive my gas guzzler AND get 100mpg. :) |
Oh RJ. If only that were street legal!
|
I saw it on a civic once.
|
Personally, of course I LOVE my Monte, and other good sounding, cool cars...but, of all the hybrid/ electric cars (that actually get above 40MPG) I think the Volt is the best looking...I would drive a Volt over a prius, or Insite anyday...But then again, i've said it before, i'm a GM snob...LOL! Honestly, though, the Volt seems like a pretty cool car, and the MPG's are incredible. But i'll never trade my Monte for it...LOL...maybe keep the Monte in the garage and commute in it...LOL!
|
I'd rather drive a car that gets 15 mpgs.
I said it. I'm not a fan of these hybrids. I'm glad people are buying them though, so there is more fuel for me to consume irresponsibly :) |
my blazer gets a combined mileage of 13 mpg.

Demanification is my new favorite word. I will work that word into at least 3 conversations today and probably everyday until I come up with a new favorite word.
The numbers are impressive and I'm eager to see what happens next. I would like to see it succeed, but my feeling is that this trend will fail, only because its target market tends to rip on GM for no genuine reason. I don't really want one. The original designs that I saw for the Volt intrigued me more. It looked cool in concept art |
I agree with Brent. I like the original concept Volt. The two door. Looked kinda like an electric version of the new Camaro almost.
I'd like to believe the Volt will get 230 MPG. But somehow I think there's some creative spin being done on that number. I call shenanigans! |
