2015 Chevrolet SS to Gain Six-Speed Manual and Magnetic Ride Control

Hi Member's, do you like it ? Do you want one ? What do you think of the price ? $

There’s a lot to love about the niche-market, Australian-built Chevrolet SS sport sedan, but we found it hard to ignore the conspicuous absence of a clutch pedal. While the six-speed automatic transmission will continue into next year’s model, a recently published online order guide validates previous suspicions that the 2015 Chevrolet SS would, deservedly, receive a proper row-your-own gearbox.
In addition to its new six-speed manual transmission, the 2015 Chevrolet SS is also slated to add GM’s Magnetic Ride Control, featured on other sports cars like the Camaro ZL1. A Chevrolet spokesperson confirmed that the order guide is indeed accurate, while clarifying that the decision to add a manual transmission option at this juncture was part of the car's original product plan. Our colleagues at Motor Trend reported in April that a stick-shift Chevy SS was in the cards for 2015.

New paint options for the 2015 Chevrolet SS are also included on the order guide, featuring lively names such as Regal Peacock Green, Some Like It Hot Red, Alchemy Purple, Perfect Blue, and Jungle Green Metallic.
The 2015 Chevrolet SS will carry over otherwise unchanged, a serious sleeper with looks that don’t betray the meaty V-8 lurking within. The 6.2-liter V-8 sends 415 hp and as much torque, as an old-school sports car should, to the rear wheels.

Plans are still in motion to close down GM’s Australian manufacturing operation, which is responsible for building the 2015 Chevrolet SS as well as the Holden Commodore on which it is based. General Motors told us previously that the SS would continue production in Australia until the Holden facilities cease production in 2017. After that, the model’s future is uncertain.
Chevrolet has yet to release an on-sale date or pricing for the 2015 Chevrolet SS, but check back soon for more updates as they come across the wire. The 2014 Chevrolet SS starts at $44,470 with destination.

OK, Now if they could make it a 2 door and give it some puffy fenders, they could call it a Monte Carlo SS.

Wishfull Thinking

Even if it was a Coupe (2 door) I wouldn't buy one. It was bad enough that GM had the knads to put the SS logo on a 4 door (once reserved for 2 door sport models) but now a car simply named SS?

At $44K there are too many other cars in that price range I would gravitate to...like the 2014 Camaro SS I was trying to negotiate price on a couple weeks ago...

Agreed, the car is about $10k over priced, and the name is dumb, but its still a decent car.

Agreed with above, car is way overpriced, the name SS shouldn't be, call it anything else, even add SS onto the name, but not JUST SS

That said, i want one real bad, in red. if i could ever afford it, id get one in a heartbeat. Sat in one at nyc auto show, been hooked ever since.

It needs an actual name... Not just "ss". What if they make a ss version of the ss? An SS SS

If I was going to spend 44 grand on a performance car, I'd get a Mustang or Camaro. Pretty sure this is front wheel drive also, and I would want rear wheel drive.

Hi `Jon,
The S.S. is a Rear wheel Drive & I heard that you can burn a set of rear tires `off in one day of `FUN

Yes, I do think they could have chosen a better name for this car then just S.S. + it's just to expensive for the average consumer.

I agree with `Mike, that a new Camaro S.S. Z would be a better choice...., but `if U had a family or hauled more then one friend > It would be a fun ride `if U had the $'s.

I'd like to see it in a coupe & wish they would bring over the Holden `Ute 2 the USA
