~> Higher Gas Prices <~>`Rant; 2/15/12
Hi Member's,
I've been working all morning (well, most of it):) on revising our companies increases because of the rising cost of fuel presently & in our projected future... When the price of fuel/gas goes `up , everything goes `up in price & it never seems to go back down :( 4-Sure :( The value of a dollar sure isn't worth what it was a decade ago....It's like they are telling everyone not to save your money, because with inflation it won't be worth anything when you take it out of saving to buy something...BUY NOW if you have the $'s :rotfl: If you go broke, let your govenment take care of you :(:( I may just have my boss lay me `off so I can collect 99 weeks of unemployment & take a 99 week vacation to the islands.. (2 dare 2 Dream) + I could also collect food stamps & housing support + more Bennie's to drive `up our USA debt... When & `if I do have the $'s = money to get a performance ride, I won't be able to afford to drive it...WTF (Where's The Fun) Not here 4 me 4-Sure  How are the higher cost effecting you ? Sound `Off & let `us know...It may not do any good, but maybe you will feel better knowing that you are not alone in the struggle to survive in this crazy world we are living.....Post your thoughts/comments..."Get if off you chest, or get your money outa your wallet (if there's any left) That's all, I feel better now ~> Now, I'm going to have to go search for my "How 2 be Happy Thread" I posted ~> :rotfl: http://col.stb.s-msn.com/i/6E/AEECA2...CFEDDE2D26.png $4 + a gallon gas coming soon to a pump near you More experts are predicting a national average gas price of $4 or more by late spring or early summer. By Karen Datko 16 hours ago Another day, another gas price prediction, it often seems. But the latest projection of $4-a-gallon gas by summer or even sooner is gaining traction. A national average of $4 a gallon means much higher prices -- at least 50 cents more -- in places like Los Angeles and New York. Also be aware that if war breaks out in the Middle East, the price of gas could reach or exceed $6, says Gregg Laskoski at the GasBuddy.com blog. There's no questioning the fact that any attack in the Middle East would certainly send crude oil soaring. . . . So if you're seeing $3.50 a gallon in your local market and Israel attacked today, add $2.50 to that and now we're looking at $6 +gasoline.:mad::( Lest you've forgotten, the record high U.S. national average was $4.11 in July of 2008 -- when we all started adopting the practices of hypermilers -- not for fun, but out of necessity. Here's what some experts are saying:
Renewed tensions in the Middle East are bolstering crude prices, while speculators are boosting futures contracts, betting on global supply disruptions and tighter refining capacity. (Tom) Kloza (of the Oil Price Information Service) notes that several U.S. and overseas refiners have experienced temporary or permanent closures. ABC News says: Also boosting prices is the higher seasonal demand that comes with summer vacations, plus a federally mandated switch from winter gas formulations to costlier ones for summer. The summer ones, designed to reduce emissions, require further refining steps. Any price increase will come on top of notably high prices for this time of year. AAA's Fuel Gauge Report says the national average is $3.513 for regular, up substantially from $3.388 a month ago. Last year at this time, it was $3.126. January's gas prices were the highest for that month ever recorded. There is one bright spot in these predictions of $4 gas. "I don't think it is going to stay there for long, but it looks pretty certain to get there," Kloza told the News-Press of Southwest Florida. In other words, we'll respond by driving less -- something we've gotten used to. Demand is down to levels last found 12 years ago. And maybe it won't be so bad. Despite widespread predictions of $4 or more for gas last year, the national average peaked at $3.98 in May and quickly dropped. More on MSN Money:

It is pretty ridiculous. Especially when you consider that much (most?) of the recent price increases have nothing to do with supply/demand but are just speculators worried about tensions in the Persian Gulf region (US/Israel/Iran issues).
I ride my motorcycle as often as practical / safe (weather has been a big factor lately) in order to keep our gas costs down. I average in the low 40's MPG with my current bike. Better than 13.5 MPG in my old car or low/mid 20's in our Monte. The only saving grace with my old car is that it's payed for and cheap to insure. So overall operating costs aren't too bad. Driving to FL this year for our son's Spring Break will certainly cost more than originally planned... |
Thanks `Dave for your posts & comments..
I do think the sales of motorcycles will go up again because of the higher cost of fuel....& also bicycles  Have 2 start peddling your butt around :rotfl:, or maybe ride a skateboard 2. Below is my future performance ride  What ? :rotfl: zero to 60 MPH, in (?) some time ? or while you eat your lunch :rotfl: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...-Toyota_iQ.JPG  I tried to buy one , but they said I did not have a high enough "iQ"....I'm studying more now & hope I can raise my iQ and reapply ~> :rotfl: I'm already working on my mod's 4 it ~~>LOL and chop'in `off the top & putting my lawn mower supercharger on it + so much more ~> LOL http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/cro...to-_460x0w.jpg |

Really annoying that gas is going up its in the $3.70's here. Espceially that i go to school 60 miles away, so 120 miles around trip gets expensive at that price. Rediculous honestly....
|
Gas prices.... PFT. I have to spend $60 every time I fill up because my car requires 93 octane.
|
I hate the gas prices & the way they play games with the prices,

I am soooooo over this! For my own perspective this all falls on the failed policies in Washington. I will expand on this later. In this post I will talk about how this has affected me in the last sixty days. In December I bought a package of diapers. Keep in mind I have three still in diapers and they go thru a box of diapers every three weeks or so. December price of a box of diapers at Walmart was 25.97, price now 27.97. In my 95 Town & Country I use Walmarts cheap oil and i change the oil every 3000 miles and it is 10.97 a jug. I have to do an oil change on it this coming weekend so I'm not sure how much it went up to. On the 06 Town & Country I use Mobil One and do the oil change every 6000 miles. That oil in December was 25.97 and now it is 29.97. I have to do an oil change on my vans less than every 60 days. We do a lot of driving because we live 35 miles away from work and we travel to work five days a week times two. That doesn't include trips to school for Susan and trips across town to take Connor to school and pick him up. Shared custody sucks. Fortunately we have a charity sponsored scratch and dent store locally where we do some of out food shopping. It is a win-win because we help support the charity and we also get food at a discount. This economy is causing me to curb my extra spending because there isn't as much extra any more.

This brings back my other topic, on how to maximize fuel economy on your current car. Bring back the good ol days where gas was $1.50 a gallon and $20 could fill your car, these days $20 doesn't give you s*** Thank god i go to school in jersey, well its bitter sweet. I can get gas for much cheaper. My last fill up in jersey was at $3.41 a gallon. Its like $3.70 here in new york
|
Presently the average here in Utah is $3.05, going to blow when it hits the $4.00 mark. damn speculators drive the cost up more than the demand does.....
|
I hat that it goes up and down so much. Up by 50 cents a gallon down by 3 cents a gallon. I also hate how people scream and yell at the cashier at the gas station. Like it's there choice to make the gas 50 cents more.

Has anyone noticed that when gas prices rise that the next fiscal quarter Exxon-Mobil posts record billion dollar profits. The gas companies are responsible for most of this. They also control our foreign policy. The oil companies don't want us to have a domestic energy policy because it will be bad for their business. When I get elected president the oil companies are not going to like me.
|
Gas around here is 3.89, I fill up with V-Power at Shell. X.X
Gregg, you're definitely right, these gas companies always put it in our faces how many billions they've made at our expense. |
My energy policy I think would be simple. I want to see solar panels on every roof top. In fact I'd like to see roof shingles invented that seal the roof and also act like solar panels. There are lots of areas in the country that get enough energy from the sun that they could be self sufficient energy wise and send excess power back to the power grid. Solar energy is free energy. We just need to harness it. The sun shines where it shines whether you harness that power or you don't. This technology already exists. I want to see wind turbines set up to harness the power of the wind. Again this is free energy. The wind is going to blow whether we harness it or not. I want to see more hydro power generation stations. Again free energy. Water is going to flow whether or not we harness it's energy. I also want to see more nuclear generating stations. This energy is not free but efficient.
We have enough oil under the USA to power us for hundreds of years that has not been drilled. Part of this is because of the EPA and partly because the oil companies can't fabricate reasons to jack up prices on domestically produced oil. They would prefer to continue dealing with the Arabs and all their issues. We need to build new refineries and produce our own gas and oil for owe own use only. I would also end the production of ethanol. There is nothing about it that makes sense other than we can produce energy from corn. With the above policies we should use electricity for our heating and cooling needs and it would be cheaper than burning oil. The only need for gas and oil would be for transportation. I would also like to see natural gas used for transportation as well. Electric cars would be good for local commuter travel and charging stations would be as common as parking meters. |
Gregg, I think you should get a few hundred campaign bumper stickers/window clings and start sending them to all the MCF members to get your name out there for the next election!!!
I have $50 to contribute to your campaign......' almost forgot, I hate gas prices also......:( |
I'm voting for Gregg!
Funny thing about wind turbines though...They're going up like crazy near where I live, but apparently the power goes out of state and our electric bills are NOT going down, in fact mine is going up next month, I don't know how many percent right now. WTF?:wtf: Why isn't the electricity from these things staying in-state and lowering our bills? GREED, I would say. |
Gregg, one can only dream.
These fools in office have too much dollar bills shoved in their ears to listen to common sense. |

I filled the green Town & Country on the way home tonight. I paid 3.58 with the Walmart gift card discount. I also bought the oil and filter to do the oil change this weekend. The cheap Walmart oil is now up to 12.97 for the jug. That's up two bucks since my last oil change.

Nissan is considering holding off on plans to open up a third car shift later this year over concerns that the economy is going to go downhill because of fuel prices again. My shift superintendent and I were discussing this (among other things related to work) over our lunch break last night. The next couple months will tell a lot.

If it's not Iran then it may be Syria or Libya (where we sent 12,000 troops recently). I'm very concerned that after the election, regardless of who is elected, we will find ourselves in yet another war.

U.S. aircraft are conducting air strikes in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, Yemen and now Somalia. There is a U.S. military base in over half of the countries on the planet and U.S. military spending is over 7 times larger than the military spending of any other nation on earth. Yes, the United States will always need a strong military. But with our national debt exploding at an exponential rate, can the United States really afford to continue to be the police of the world? |
