Default Sam and his Monte

Newer member here, I'm 43 I've been following the site for a while but haven't posted. I am on my 2nd Monte. I had an 01 SS that I bought for work, I was lucky enough to get to drive it for a year and a half until a deer decided to step out and run into me. Insurance totaled the car. I found an 04 Dale Jr, being a Jr. fan I had to have it. As far as I know its stock, I have taken her to the track once this year so far. My first pass right off the street with no cool down time and front tire psi at 40 I went a 14:89..... second pass I let it cool down, dropped the front tires to 22 psi and left TC on. I went 14:56. I am very impressed with it so far, I've got the itch to get into 13:90's.

Hi Sammy and welcome to the forum!

Those are very impressive number for a totally stock car. It's been a few years since I've been to the strip. These tires I'm running make terrible traction and I've never tried to fix that. I think it's the secret to a healthy transmission. That and not going to the dragstrip. Have you tried popping the left head light out (2 clips) for the ram air effect?

You gotta be excited about the race tonight, huh? In spite all appearances, I don't usually watch NASCAR anymore. But I keep a distant eye on it and will be watching Daytona tonight. Go Jr!

Default Yep

sitting down right now to watch the green flag drop! I know I could get better air flow without the headlight in. I am completely an American car guy and I see all the evos and jap cars that pop a light out to run down the track I just can't bring myself to stoop to those levels lol. I think you have to look good as well as go fast. I'm impressed with it because I had a 95 Z 28 with the LT1, I had the hypertech power programmer, and K&N filter and she ran 14:0'a-14:10's on any given day. For a V6 to be close that impresses me.
