Default Newbie 02 Monte Carlo SS

I new here out of Las Cruces, NM

I been having issues with my 02 SS 3800 124k... I took a trip to Amarillo recently and started to notice the tranny doing some hard shifting. Took is to a local AAMCO in Amarillo. Gentleman pulled codes and one was tranny overheating and the second the P1811 code. Gentleman explained that it was an internal code and needed to have tranny rebuilt. Had car Towed 400 miles back home. At the local shop car did not pull any codes and some how codes were not in history. Car spent a few weeks in the shop and shop could not reproduce codes. I picked car up test drove it on high way up and down hills an reached speeds of 95 to 100 and no issues. After driving around town in 100 plus heat engine temp was very hot and at times hit 260 degrees. Took it right back to shop and the same codes form Amarillo appeared. Mechanic thinks it might have to do with cooling system right now getting new water pump and radiator completely flushed. Codes only apear when temp is high on engine and only hard-shift when car temp rises. Any ideas

I been reading and most people say Pressure Control Solenoid, I don't think its bad clutches or valve body since it only hard shifts when hot as mentioned before.

Welcome to the forum!

Putting a lower temp thermostat in the engine may help some. Having the cooling fans turn on at a lower temp will also help, but I think that may require reprogramming the PCM. For the transmission, installing a cooler will help to keep the temp down.

Welcome to the site - I was going to suggest replacing the T-Stat - I hope that corrects the problem.
