New from Tennessee

Well if things work out I'll be bringing home an 01 Monte Carlo in the next couple weeks. Used to have an 04 Dale Jr edition but had to sell it when I went out on my own. Out of the cars I've sold that's the one I regret the most. Some day I'll have another one but I'll have to wait a while for that.

So a little about myself:

I live in middle TN. Been in the Army 7 years (in the Reserves right now), working full time and going to college as well for Computer Information Systems. I also have a 73 Z28 Camaro that's my baby. Been messing with cars for quite a while and know the 3800 platform like the back of my hand. So it'll be nice to be back in the W-body/3800 world if this deal works out (unfortunately not set in stone quite yet)

Welcome to the forum. I hope the deal works out for you and you get your Monte. I have many sold car regrets too.

Welcome to the forum Sgt. from a fellow Dale Jr edition owner. :)
Sorry to hear you had to get rid of yours. I'm sure you must have had a lot of fun in it. I find it's very easy to make the gas guage move in these supercharged Montes. ;)

Thank you for your years of service. We'd love to see some pictures of your 73 Camaro (if possible). Love seeing the classics. We have a number of members in the service. So I know it's not always possible to access pictures and such.

Taz, I browsed around the site before I decided to join and I noticed your siggy pic there. I know what you mean about knowing how to move the gas gauge. I also knew how to make it stay put too. I got 30mpg highway with mine when I wanted to. That was according to my calculations, not the readout. It did take me a bit before I figured out how to really burn rubber. That Monte was my first automatic. Burning rubber in a stick is easy; rev it up and dump the clutch. Required a little more finesse (and turning off traction control) to do it in the Monte LOL. I do like those L67s (also had a Grand Prix GTP with the L67 before some idiot pulled out in front of me and totalled it). One of my dream projects is to make a RWD version and mate it to a 6 speed.

I happen to already have some pics on photobucket of the 73. It's not painted yet but I hope to have that done later this year. This is the best pic IMO:

The one thing I hate about this Monte that I'm trying to get is that godawful surfboard spoiler. I can't stand it. Couldn't stand it on the Grand Prixs either and if I'd had my GTP longer I definitely would have gotten a different one. Realized I didn't mention it but it's an SS that I'm trying to get. I definitely prefer the 3800s.
