Sorry, seems like I may need to do this to be able to post elsewhere.

Anyways I have always liked the Monte Carlos. I owned a 08 G6 Coupe that was silver for about 50K miles. Same engine but that was a VVT version non-flex.

I do quite a bit of work on cars so I have a good handle on most of the problems. I got a 07 Monte with the 3.5 for 2200$. Has 107K miles on it atm. Was sitting and needed a jump and a new battery soon as I got home. Engine runs good, a little warm IMO. Halfway past the halfway mark to the next tick.

The car NEEDS a muffler/resonator. Super loud and will get that done asap. I plan on flushing the coolant, changing the tstat the same time. Anyways it was running a hair warm and I hope that muffler, tstat, flush can do all that. Doesn't leak any oil the underside is nice and clean.

One problem I want to address is a loud clicking sound when you start or turn the car off. It also buzzes pretty loud when it is running and before and after ran. Battery didn't drain enough to not start it when I put it in this afternoon so I have my fingers crossed I can get by with a cheap eBay parts fix. All in all, the body is a bit banged up I should replace the rear bumper and get some touchup paint otherwise its great and hope to beat the piss out of it till 150k+

Welcome! That loud clicking sounds like vent door actuators, notorious in these cars - do a search and there are tutorials to find/replace the boogers. I just unplugged a couple until I got around to it...

I see its common. Would love to make a different thread about it. Is there certain post requiring to post a new thread in general help?

Anyways I understand there is two? On the passenger side. They are the same part I think? I ordered one for 10$ on eBay and will cross my fingers next weekend when I get to it.


There is also a buzzing sound but that seems like it could be the radio? Not positive on the source and havn't even had time to clean the car out yet let alone tear into it. Glad their reliable, getting muffler replaced tuesday for 150$.
