How to gain more power without super charger

turbo monte 07-28-2016 12:28 AM

If you want significant gains Turbo, supercharger or nitrous is your only option. Also assuming you have a 3800?

You can get small gains from engine mods (port work and cam etc but they will be just that with this engine, minimal gains. And a expensive price too!

I have ss monte i dont like super charge over rated dont think nitrous is fair. & turbo is the worse thing i heard of i meant to a stock 3800 but thanks

A supercharger being over rated is far from the truth IMO. Boost is boost and if you want to make power with the 3800 it needs boost end of story. I also don't like nitrous, it is fair though imo, making power is making power but I like my power all the time instead of only when spraying. Turbo being the worse for a stock 3800? Idk where your getting your info but that's not true at all. Many guys are on a stock engine with a turbo and making great power reliably

I assume you are not a fan of the Buick Grand National? That is a factory turbo charged 3.8 engine (which was a predecessor to the 3800 Series II).

If you keep the car naturally aspirated, you have limits to how much power it is ever capable of. Open up to a super or turbo charger and the numbers do go up. There are plenty of turbo charged 3800 Series II set ups out there running very well. Just takes lots of research.

Here is a good thread on 3800 mods:
