Max tire width with stock wheeltubs

I would like to know the maximum tire width with the stock wheeltubs for a 1986 Monte Carlo LS. How difficult is it to tub and will aftermarket wheeltubs be needed for a 10 inch tire or can I use the stock ones?

depends on size of rims, the taller the rim the wider you can go on tire with stock tubs. Need more info on the size rim you want so we can help.

aamer415 with that setup your able to go with either setup without no mods.

22''x 8.5'' rim/ tires 245/30/22
255/30/22
22''x 9.5'' rim/ tires 265/35/22

*22''x 10'' thru 11'' on a 295/25/22 with the right offset of maybe (35+) and some mods (rolling the lip) on the upper rear quarters.

the front you can go as big as 22''x9.5'' with 245/30/22, 255/30/22 without issues. A 265/*35/22 (*35 may be to tall with that width)with some mods, so you have plenty of room for a 20'' wheel.

Dont just take my word always take your car down to the wheel shop so they can retro fit many sizes of wheel and tire setup to get the best fit possible.

I was thinking of a 20''x 9'' on a 245/30/20 for the front because of potential fender rubbing issues. 22''x 9.5'' on a 265/35/22 tires.

Instead I came out with a 22''x 9.5'' with a 245/30/22 up front with no mods.
the rear was a whopping 22''x 11'' on a 295/25/22 on the rear. We roll the upper lip which took less than 10 mins to do each side with a hand circular saw and rubber mallot. I also have 2'' drop spring in the front to level out the look.

the offset will very on various style of rims, my setup just happen to be a (35) offset. Whatever you do don't order rims off the internet because the offset my wrong unless the shop deal frenquently with similar cars. Also you can also go with a 22''x8'' rim up front with a 245/30/22 tire and have no possibly issues or mods with a stock suspensions. What ever you get post pictures.

I pick up on a few things here and there from seeing and experience. I'm no expert. I have seen different setup over the years with GM car. I once had a 87 Luxury Sport on 16'' Billets 13 years ago. I also bought the 5th gen in 95 off the lot. I place an order for a set of 16'' rims from the Autoshow in Chicago in 95 for the 5th gen Monte. They took a guess on the offset without measuring the backspace,etc...on the car. Once I got the rim through the mail the offset was wrong. The rim shop had to shave my front calipers to make the rims fit. Thats why I urge you to retro fit any rims before placing an order.
