Default Just joined MCF...

I recently bought an '06 Monte Carlo 3.9LT, and I hope to find some information on improving the performance. Apparently, this is a one year only engine, so I don't expect much from the aftermarket! Nice car, though; comfortable, gets good mileage ( about 25 average so far) and looks good, but I 'spose I don't have to tell you guys that! Most importantly, though, I look good driving it!

LOL- Cute pic! I assume that "Owner's Review" is a seperate post? This is the only pic I have so far, since my camera decided it doesn't like the outdoors. This was taken with cell phone:
I traded a 2003 Dodge Ram. I changed jobs this summer- now I have to drive more than twice as far for less money- suddenly gas mileage became an issue. I was getting 13 on a good day with the Ram, average 25 with Monte ( at 80+)

Yup, the 06's don't have much of an aftermarket yet but it may start growing. The basics you could do is dump the stock air filter and get a KN replacement for performance. You can also change the exhaust but that will only change the sound... the exhaust is pretty open as it is and won't be a bottleneck for awhile.

An easy mod is to gut the airbox. Combined with a K&N filter it adds a nice sound and a little HP

Two great minds etc, etc, etc... I cut the front of the airbox as soon as I got the car home:

I ordered the K&N filter last nite!
