Hi Dominic & Welcome to the MCF
Sorry to read that you are having problems with your Monte.
There are several TSB`s on Steering problems
(I suggest checking with your local GM dealer & see
if your problem is covered. Good Luck, from `Space

From whatI hear, the "new improved" shaft will do the same thing.
Here's what we've been doing http://www.naioa.com/v2/modules.php?...ic&t=10805

The link I posted tells how to use white lithium spray grease, and no you don't have take it off. It does work, it just doesn't last forever, then neither do the replacement shafts, but it's a cheaper band-aid than a new shaft that will most likely need replacing again...and again.

I'm getting my ISS serviced Wednesday, for the 1st time. Getting close to running out of warranty (covered), and I wanted this done before winter. Also getting the sunroof motor/switch serviced, as that is now giving me problems, also. I'm at just over 90,000 miles

Mine is getting replaced tomarrow, I hope! Under extended warranty. Sunroof switch, also. FREE! (well, the warranty wasn't free, but the repair is zero deductible)
