Honda Head here, potential MC buyer
I'll probably end up with the red or black. Both of my Ludes I've had were black, haha, and I can do a lot with that. Victory Red is one of my all time favorite colors on any vehicle, plus its one of the USMC colors, then again, so is yellow. :p
Im not sure anyone has attempted to swap an L67 into the 06-07 models. You would probably be the first one. I know the 3800 wasnt offered in the 06-07 models so the engine mounts might be different. They did use the same tranny tho. If you were going to get a 06-07 I wouldnt even bother with the L67, I would get the SS with the LS4 V8. More power and they have the DOD so it would probably get the same or better gas mileage. Plus well, its a V8 which equals
I may look into the V8... Typically, I'm an N/A guy unless it comes with forced induction, but there's nothing that has the sound of an American V8.
Did all the 06-07 SS's have the LS4?
I got a lot of homework ahead of me...

All 06-07 SS's are an LS4 V8 5.3L
Some '06 LTs and all LTZs are 3.9L
'06-07 LS and '07 LTs are 3.5L
Someone correct me if that's wrong.
As for aftermarket the LS4 is decent, 3.9L aftermarket is pretty much nonexistent. I think the LS4's are low 14's in the 1/4.

From LS1 Tech Forum on the LS4 if your interested:
Generation IV 5.3L LS4 V8 Overview
The 5.3L LS4 shares the basic architecture of the 6.0L LS2. This includes an all aluminum block, six-bolt main bearing caps, deep-skirt cylinders, and a structural oil pan. It has the 243 casting LS6 heads with LS1 valve springs, which are good for 6200-6300 rpms.
Engineers had to mount this engine sideways so some changes were made. The crankshaft is shortened by 13 mm overall, 3 mm at the flywheel and 10 mm at the accessory drive. This was done to accommodate a more compact accessory drive. Instead of a 2 belt system there is only 1 long serpentine belt, even with this to save space there is only about 2 inches between the crankshaft pulley and the passenger side wheel well. The water pump is mounted off center with elongated passages to connect to the block (see picture). Also a rear facing intake manifold was designed. To ensure proper oiling during high-g cornering the oil pan has special baffles built in. Since Displacement on Demand uses oil for activation an oil pump with 31% more flow than previous LS2 type oil pumps is used.
Displacement: 325ci (5328cc)
Compression Ratio: 10:1 (premium fuel is recommended)
Bore x Stroke: 3.78" x 3.622" (96mm x 92mm)
Firing Order: 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3
Horsepower: 303 hp @ 5600 rpm
Torque: 323 lb-ft @ 4400 rpm
Fuel Cut-off: 6100 rpm

I have a 91 honda crx kitted out Body kits are a pain in the *** and you haveto worry about hitting the parking curbs etc def not a grocery store getter. I also have a 04 monte c. I prefer ls montes because I have lots of experience with 60degreev6's. 3.4 Is what comes in the ls. there are tons and tons of mods availible to put on them but very much like honda the parts arent cheap. oem parts are decently priced I suppose. join 60degreev6.com and ask around. And I also heard you can put a 00 up caviler manual on a 3.4. most of the guys on here are going to talk you up on a ss or ss supercharged. a ls is about 8 grand and a ss is about 12+ ss sc prices start at about 18k depending on year, options, and where you live. I bought my 04 ls for $5500 cash with rear end damage. trunk and rear bumper screwed up. then Im buying a ton of ss goodies and aftermarket. I have a trunk from a pace car, pace car interior panels. and knock off msd wires. go on your local craigslist and look for parts an cars. In this economy you can probably score. Dont buy a high mileage monte! difference between honda and chevy is: honda lasts 200k no problem. But expect to replace the ignition if you really go hard on it. Chevy problems arise at 100k miles. but if you want to replace all the gaskets(intake being popular), sensors (camshaft crankshaft), injectors, belts, powersteering parts, power window motors, o2 sensors, coil packs, water pump etc. (Trust me I know my family and I have owned several high mileage 3.1s.) then prepare to have deep pockets. best bet is go for cosmetic damage light damage that is unreported on carfax. spend the $30 its worth it. and if you know someone also looking for a car split cost with them. With all this said Im assuming you work on your own car.
Also have fun at paris island my 2 buddys just got back from it not to long ago. dont smart off or they will make you cry. keep your mouth shut and do what they say. oh and your going to get all bit up by the sand insects. My one buddys in cali now at 29 palms and my other is back working security until after christmas then to afganistan he goes. oh and if you screw up they keep making you go though boot camp.
