Hi everybody
Thanks for all the warm welcomes guys, it's a shame I wouldn't be just joining on the forums to just show it off and mingle. I thought about giving my son a grand and holding onto it for myself to fix it back up but I just don't have the funds right now for a project car.
The craigslist ad in the link I posted in the original post has a lot of information but I'll be glad to give you all the run down. The car starts, runs, drives, shifts and stops. It was registered up through the end of February 2012 and was a daily driver. I know it's hard to believe by looking at it but it's true. I could have spent the time and cleaned it up inside and out, repainted some of the under hood stuff that's starting to build rust and put some of the interior trim pieces and door panels back on but why bother. It is what it is, a classic box ss that needs it's share of work. The engine runs fine but does smoke on startup from the day I brought it home. Trans has a shift kit in it and shift fine but hard. The rear brake adjusters need some work, needs a new speed gear, driveshaft has a little vibration over 60mph, the ac is all there but has not been charged since we have had it so lets assume the compressor doesnt work. The drivers seat rail ripped up from the floor after welding it twice. What you see on the outside is only surface rust. It needs a new front header panel and grill along with bumper support and bumper absorbers.
It can use some new shocks, they've never been changed since we've had the car. Probably needs some front end work as well by now. I had some of that done when I bought it as well as rebuilding the carb and a new catalytic convertor. Needs new tail housings, passenger fender, front directional lenses, front side marker lenses, interior needs a really good cleaning and some work as well. I know the carpet has a rip in it.
NEEDS WORK! you're not getting in this car and just driving it. It's going to need to be gone through. I'm not a mechanic so I'm telling you all this from what I can see and my basic knowledge of cars.
I would like to get $1000 for it or at least a decent trade for something that can just be thrown on the road and registered .....meaning a roadworthy trade.
I also have the stripe kit for it that never got put on after it was painted
I've always been a car guy and had a classic or muscle car around every now and then which is what made my son want a G body Monte so bad. I had my 69 Chevelle at the same time he had his box ss.
Here are some pics of the chevelle before I sold it.
