hello
i am new member, i have been around alot of forums. I just purchashed a 2006 monte carlo lt it has the 3900 and i am liking it alot. 1 question what makes a ltz different from a lt

RE: hello
Well if your LT has the 3900 in it then the real differences between the LT and the LTZ are creature comforts. You have the LT with the engine package and an upper trim package for the LT, base LT's have the 3500. I'm pretty sure those are the only differences, but I would wait for a response from one of our members who have an '06 and know a little more about them then I do. WELCOME to the forum!!!!

RE: hello
Welcome, good to see another 3.9.
The LTZ had more of the luxury options standard, like the sunroof, leather seats, painted rockers (I think), upgraded sound, basically everything. I'm sure one of these other fools on the forum knows more than me and will probably inform you better. What color did you go with? We'd love some pictures. |
RE: hello
another difference is the dual exhaust

RE: hello

RE: hello
Welcome to the forum!
If your curiosities weren't answered in SpaceRider's post, we do have a few 2006 LTZ owners here who may be able to answer your questions. My guess would be that you have the LT and everything that comes standard in the LT, and the original owner selected the optional 3.9 litre engine from the list of options. That would obviously include the tranny and exhuast upgrades required to go with it. Does your car have polished aluminum exhaust tips? If so, that may be one luxury item that came with your engine upgrade. The original owner may have selected any number of options from the list. So you may need to compare with another LT model (or a dealership brochure) to really find out all the upgrades you have on your car. You've made a great choice in your 3.9 litre equipped LT. Not sure about the insurance companies in your area. But you may be reaping the benefits of having the power of the LTZ, without the increased insurance rates of the LTZ. For example, when I bought my grand am GT years ago, my insurance agent told me that because it was officially designated by the factory as a GT model, the insurance rates were higher than if it was a grand am SE with thesame engine. Same power, lower insurance. |
RE: hello
You are correct Taz, the insurance on the LTZ is somewhat higher than the LT3.
Owners of the LT3 are very fortunate in this respect. But having the LTZ badge is very awesome indeed. |
