3.4 liter v-6 performance upgrades.

Hey folks I bought a 2004 Monte canary yellow, I am tickled to death with it. I am not looking to race/drag it but I am trying to get a bit more zip out of it. I put in a drop in K and N, definitely a good move that and a tune up, whole different car. I have heard that most chips for it are bogus. I have heard that a performance air intake makes it sound real pretty but doesn't give you much more if any HP/throttle. I have heard a cold air intake, gives it some more pep, but not a lot. Is there a chip out there that actually works????? Any suggestions about not spending a lot, and getting some more zip would help, thx Brad.

Welcome to the forum. The link P343 shared should help set you on the right course for a little extra power and not braking the budget :)

I like the white, I have a yellow one. I used to be a black car guy, I love bright summer colors, solid looking whip man, B.

Solid info brother, mine was a fleet car. It sat in a garage for folks to drive for some company's company vehicle, it purrs like a kitten after a tune up and a drop in K and N filter, she runs great. I was gonna go with a performance intake, (NOT cold air intake), I am glad I didn't, that little tree would be right next to the engine what you said makes sense. Hey man, are there performance modules/chips that actually work??????

For our car's the answer is no. They sell a bunch of them on ebay and I believe they basically make your car run rich (flood extra gas into your car) so it seems as if there is more power but in fact there isn't, kinda of like how your car runs when you first start it up and start driving. They are pretty much a waste of money. Your best bang for the buck is to get what ever mods you plan on having done, put on the car and then get the pcm tuned to accomodate the mods so you can get the most power out of them.
