3.4 to 3.8 swap
 

Hey new to the forum. Trying to figure out what I have to pull from a 02 3.8 grand prix to put in my 3.4 03 monte carlo ls. Have to send this this thing to the bone yard quickly City getting on me for having it sitting in my yard. I just want to make sure I get everything off it before I send it on it's way. Body is rusted out been sitting a few years but the engine and transmission are like new only 73k on it lol

Here's a list of parts you should probably grab. Complete engine and all mounts and brackets including alternator and ps pump and lines. The whole wiring harness under the hood , the Pcm and Bcm would be a good idea .The air intake system and coolant hoses. Probably a couple other parts I'm forgetting but that should get you really close. Good luck

the 3.4 is pretty much the 3.5 engine it would be a little bit more umph if you switch the heads on the engine. you wouldn't need the fly by wire that I have on my 3.5 plus even though it didn't have a long run in the monte but it had a longer run in the impala the heads even the engine in a u pull is every where and it is a direct bolt up with out changing the computer. I have a little fun with mine even though I had a head gasket recall on mine. I ended up doing a port polish on my heads and intake manifold. different motor peppy thing now. it has been done back when it had 65k on it now has 205k still running strong. basic maintenance and it is pretty much a cruiser than any thing. if you want to do the 3.8 it has a little more work to do it. not sure about the engine mounts and brackets for the engine mount as well as different engine mount. the other mounts will bolt right up but take your time on what direction you want to go and do. a lot of time is $$ deals with what you can and cant do. make a list of what you would need off of a donor from a 3.8 body as well as a 3.5 body.
