Default 2006 or 2007 MC SS??

Hi guys, this is Mike in San Diego.
So I am looking for a great Monte Carlo SS deal! I really like the 5.3 engine.
However, I am stuck when it comes to which year.....2006 or the 2007?
I know the production #'s are much lower for 2007, but I really just want the BEST car for my money!
So....your opinions would be most welcome!

I'm pretty sure nothing really changed between the years. I think in 2007 they had the stripes available and I believe the dropped one of the trims and that is it as far as I know. price wise they should be around the same. I have a 2006 and it's been an awesome car. Just try to find one with decently low miles. When I got mine it had just crossed over 56k which isn't to bad. I got the car for $13,000 (still making payments on it) and I think that was a pretty decent deal for the miles the car had as well as the shape the car was/is in.

There's no significant changes that I'm aware of between the two years (as far as SS' are concerned). Just buy one for a good deal and have fun.

welcome to the forum. Nothing changed really between the years...just find the color or color combo you want and whatever fits in your price range. Then the fun starts. If I had to vote though I would say 2007 because that is the only year for Precision Red paint

Welcome to the Forum.

Other than some possible color and stripe option differences, I'm pretty sure the only noticeable change was the wording on the engine cover; Displacement on Demand (2006), Active Fuel Management (2007). A little tid bit: the DOD engine cover looks to have been completely discontinued when GM went to the AFM cover in 07. I bought a "backup" cover recently when I got my original painted and the AFM cover was the only option stocked and available at the GM warehouse so, as far as I know, they only stock that cover now.

2006 or 2007; if the car is a good one, either year is a good choice.

Go with your best deal on color combo you want, if you are going to keep it forever it won't matter in the end if you are looking at an investment possibility then 07 as fewer were made and last year of production.

Good luck and hope you find what you are looking for.
