..Welcome to the Monte Carlo Family in your Super Hot Monte..
How many miles on your Monte Carlo ?
Do you have modifications ?
Did it catch fire as you were starting or when you were driving ?
What are you plans ? Are you going to attempt to fix it yourself ? or take it to a repair shop.

Wish you good luck on getting your Monte Carlo back on the road...Hope no one got hurt...

Welcome to the forum. I'm a new member also. When I did research on my vehicle I found that there is a recall for fire potential underhood. I don't know if your repairs will be covered under it, but you may want to check into it. It is recall Recall ID # 88018 - ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

Best of luck getting it repaired.

Default thanks everyone

The Monte has 130,000 miles on it. I was starting it when it went BOOM! Then the fire started. from what I have read I think the intake manifold gasket malfunction.
about the recall. I just bought the car. didn't even have it registered in my name. so I never got the recall. I called GM and when round and round with them. just to be told that my car is over 10 years old and they won't do anything for me.
I have all the burned up parts taken off at this point. Need lots of parts!!!!! lots of money!

The good news is, if you have the 3800 series II engine, there's tons of cars that have them. Check the junk yards. Pontiac Grand Prix's are plentiful, and have the same engine.
