2000 swap from 3.8 to 3.8sc from gtp

Default 2000 swap from 3.8 to 3.8sc from gtp

ok I found a 05 series 2 motor from a Pontiac Grand Prix got for sale decent price very low miles comes with trans as well and it is the sc well I have a 2000 Monte Carlo will I be able to do a swap with that motor and if so what all would I need is it a basic unbolt, bolt in plug and play or more difficult

Its pretty straight forward and plenty have done it..

Need l67 wire harness, (driver I think) side axel, coil packs maybe, and fuel injectors maybe..

Gotta figure something out with the throttle body also, electronically controlled instead of cable IIRC. You don't need an entire wiring harness if you already have a 3.8, but you will need some adapters that are probably available from ZZP.

L67 is a cable pulled by the pedal (drive by wire I think they call it)..

Its the 5.3 thats EC.

Sorry, I misread... An 05 GTP shouldn't have a Series II though, I thought it was a Series III, which is an L32 with electronic control.

Yeah starting in 2004 they switched over to the series 3... something isn't adding up.

Thats what ive always read also.. Mines an '05 ss with a series 2..

This is just for the Grand Prix. The Monte and Impala kept the Series 2 for the whole life span.

I've always known "Drive By Wire" to be a throttle body controlled electronically. I believe "cable drive" is the method of a cable from the pedal to the throttle body.
