1976 Monte,

Hello!!

Got around to pursuing a long time dream of building a classic car with massive power. Found a 76' Monte Carlo with virtually no rust, and a lot of other things missing. I'm surfing google hard looking for specific information, and it keeps referring me here. I'm not very knowledgeable about cars, but have great google-fu and an extensive computer background.

I'm hoping to gain a lot of that information I'm lacking and not able to find by researching by talking with others on the forums. Right now my current hang up is finding an acceptable rear end to put into it. Found a 12 bolt from a 70-72 Chevelle and wondering if it'll bolt right on. I see that they're both A-body cars and hoping it'll be a good match.

I'm very attracted to the mid 60's to mid 70's car styling and the Monte wasn't the first choice but fell in love with the styling after seeing it, and made an impulse purchase, especially after seeing the lack of age damage like most cars from that era.

My friend is going to help me out a lot with it and his background in mechanics is a million times better than mine. I have a few pictures, most of which scream it needs some immediate attention in specific areas.

Hey Stumpmi, We're neighbors! I'm on the west side of wisconsin.

Picked up a 74 Scottsdale saturday, pulled the engine and tranny out and prepping to paint it in a couple weeks then hopefully drop it in. We fondly named that truck the Sh*tbox after breaking down in southern MN and starting a few wires on fire. The engine is damned solid though.
