02 SS P0410 code issues
 

Hi, I own a 2002 SS with the 3.8. having on-going issues with the engine light coming on and reading the P0410 code for secondary air system performance. Over the course of this issue I have replaced both the secondary air injection check valve and the air pump twice. I replaced the original pump the first time (it was bad) and the new pump stopped working within weeks so I changed the check valve thinking it was letting moisture into the pump etc and installed yet another new pump.
It was fine for some time after I replaced the check valve then the light came on again about a year later. This is important to note...at present, the pump comes on upon start up as it should. I gained access to it so I could feel and hear it and it does come on then shuts off after a few minutes as it should. I disconnected the hose and no water came out. What is throwing the light on despite the fact that the pump runs and there is no evidence of residual moisture??? I appreciate any assistance

Unfortunately, I do not know much to anything about how the AIR pump system works. I know it is required in some locations (such as California, not sure what others, but it's not required in Ohio). I know it is possible to remove it from the car. To do so, you need the PCM reprogrammed and you either need to replace the rear exhaust manifold or or plug the hole in the manifold used by the pump.

So the pcm needs to be reprogrammed to remove the code I'm in Missouri and I don't believe its needed either can I just grab a pcm out the junkyard and case learn to my car

Or how much to have u reprogram
