Texas Picks/ The Frances Ferko 500
So it's off to the Lone Star for the Frances Ferko 500!! So some of you may wonder, why do I call it the Frances Ferko 500? Well, some history from the history major is in order! If you guys will remember, Texas came on the scene in about 1997, replacing North Wilkesboro's spring date. The investors of Texas Motor Speedway claimed they were promised 2 races a year, and by about 2002-2003, they hadn't gotten it. So Frances Ferko, an invester in Texas Motor Speedway, filed a lawsuit against NASCAR for playing a monopoly with the track ownership, and ended up winning. The result? North Carolina Motor Speedway in Rockingham, NC lost it's fall date to Texas, and one of the Darlington races was dropped from the schedule. Thus, here we are today, going to Texas for the fall race, the Frances Ferko 500!
This is a track that can be tough. It can be a long day for you if you don't have a good car, but if you nail the set up just perfectly, you are going to fly. So I'm looking for guys who are going to nail the setup just right and are going to fly on Sunday afternoon. So I'm looking at...
1) Denny Hamlin
2) Jimmie Johnson
3) Kevin Harvick
All of them have nothing to lose and everything to gain by going out and driving as hard as possible because if they don't, well, one of the other 2 will and you'll lose the championship. It's likely that these 3 guys will win the next 3 races... so they may just be my picks for the rest of the season.
3 Toyota's, 2 Ford's, 4 Chevrolet's, 1 Dodge in the top 10.

TEXAS: ~>3 p.m. ET Sunday, ESPN
Fort Worth, Texas
Clear 52°
Forecast
Seeing some light
It's been a rough couple of years for NASCAR teams in regards to sponsorship dollars, but there is growing optimism amongst the teams that the tide is turning.
Top three among the top drivers at Texas
Fantasy: Hamlin, Johnson have wins at TMS, Harvick consistent.
Power Rankings: More than one dent
Harvick's car was beat up at 'Dega, but it didn't stop him from cutting into the points lead.
What a comeback
Edwards looks to return to form at TMS
In the Loop: Edwards' last Cup Series win came at the track in '08.

I will post mine 2morrow (Hard to pick 4 this race: ) 4-Sure
Nobody wins at Texas on a regular basis
Numbers: It's been 62 races since Jeff Gordon last won, at Texas, but he did get married and that can slow you down

Okay dokey, practice speeds are in and I might be in trouble. Johnson, Harvick, and Hamlin have all been slow in practice. Jimmy picked it up to 10th in Happy Hour, but Harvick is still 20th and Hamlin like 24th. Roush and the Ford team has been fast all week though.

I agree, therefore I pick Harvick to win
1 Harvick ahead of Johnson
2 Harvick ahead or Hamlin
3 Harvick wins

It`ll be the Sprint Cup debut of Trevor Bayne this weekend, which is cool. He`s another young guy firing through the ranks quickly. I`d love to see him get the Woods Bros. Ford to victory lane again!
I`m enjoying watching RPM drivers succeed through all the turmoil over there. The team is in such financial disarray that nobody has been talking about how fast they are! Sadler got the pole! AJ, Paul and new temp Bud driver Aric all qualified top 13 and have been running well. Kasey Kahne starts 24th. RPM pwns RedBull
It`ll likely be a very boring race. I agree with Duane that practice speed here are pretty important because the race will be won by the fastest car (not always the case).
1. Carl Edwards
2. Greg Bifle
3. Jimmie Johnson
It`ll be a Ford-ish day! 3 Chevs crack the top 10
last: Mike Bliss (MacDowell missed the race, but I`m sure his hauler was the first one packed up and outta`there!)
1st caution: Robby Gordon
number of cautions: 4
