Picks/Sonoma/SunAfternoon

We're headed for the wine country of northern California where we'll make lefts and rights! What a blast! This is one of my favorite races of the year and I oh so look forward to ti...

But first off, congratulate MnteCrloSS47 for a win in a tie brekaer last week in Michigan! Things are going very well for him, as he has won Monte of the Motnh, and two races in teh past month! He's on a roll!!!

Congratulate BlazedSS for leading the points and to Leprechaun93 for leadin the Segment.

All stats for the season can be viewed here:

It's handy to remmeber that road course ringers run well, but don't win here. JPM will probably return driving a Pensek car as well. Ambrose runs well here but always seems to have tire wear issues. Kurt Busch has been known to do well here... he also runs a very soft suspension set up as can be noted when you watch that car dive back adn forth through corners and on the brakes.

But I'm so far back in poitns and only picking Fords.... I've got to do somethign different and hope for the best!!!

My Picks

1) Marcos Ambrose
2) Joey Logano
3) Carl Edwards

I've never won a road course but I love this kind of racing.... I'm also lookign forward to the Nationwide race at Road America Saturday!!!

You wasted no time getting the thread started Duane!

So, can Jr get a road course win? Sr was no better on a road course, but he got a win eventually. I haven't failed to pick Jr yet this year and I will stand by him. He hasn't given me any reason not to yet.

But this race will be different. I don't know who the ringers are yet, but I have given this some thought

1. Dale Jr.
2. A.J. Allmendinger
3. Jamie McMurray

Was it last year that Ambrose and BradK had that last lap showdown? Best race finish ever...

IT was 2 years ago at Watkins Glen... what a finish too... (skip to about 2:00)

Sonoma is where Ambrose tried to coast up hill years ago and lost......

Sonoma, then Sears Point, is where the infamous Ricky Rudd screw job occured.... go to about 5:00 in this video.

Boris Said will run this one in a #32 car.... owner listed as Frank Stoddard. I wonder if that's a Roush or Penske prepared ca,r or otherwise? Stoddard has connections to Roush, was Jeff Burtons crew chief for a long time.

No Juan Montoya... I just go to decide if I really want to pick Said....

I like Boris, but I don't think he'll find much success with this team. Maybe if the team connects with one of the big teams, but they'll still need pro pitstops. U R throwing this one away Duane
